Chapter 31. Confused Hearts

Lexi's POV

  I sat there. Waiting. Waiting for someone to tell us it's okay. Waiting to be safe. I heard a knock at the door and got up. I looked through the small window and saw Carol. I opened the door and hugged her.

" their gone." He mumbled and I nodded. I walked outside and watched everyone carry away the bodies. Jailyn sat next to me and I sighed.

" it's never like this." I said and looked at her. She slightly nodded and I moved closer to her.

" stop being silent. I can almost promise you this is a safe place. You can talk to me, I was out there like you once. I know how you feel." I said and she smiled.

  I sat on the bench, close to the gate, and waited for them to come back. Daryl, Rick, Glenn, Sasha, Abraham, Nicholas and some other people went out. Carl's sitting next to me and I sighed.

" they would've been back by now." He mumbled and I placed my hand on his leg.

" they will be back." I assured him. He sighed and I kissed his shoulder, turning to face Maggie who was walking towards us.

" any sign of them?" She asked and I shook. My head. She sighed and walled back over to Beth. She's been worried sick a bout Glenn. I wanted to go out there and look for him, but we all know I'm in no condition to do that. Physically and mentally. They all have me a nervous wreck waiting here.

  I heard the gate open and saw Daryl I immediately ran to him and hugged him. I saw everyone else wall in except for a few people I had yet to know. But one absence made me break.

" where's Glenn." I said and looked up to him.

" we, we wouldn't find him. Nowhere." He said and Maggie walked up. I guess she heard because she started crying and ran off to one of the houses. I don't blame here. She may or may not have just lost her husband. Carl wrapped me in his arms and I cried. I didn't know what else to do because my who family is slowly slipping away from me.

  He rubbed my back and brought me back to the house. I looked for Jailyn and Carl told me she went to talk to Diana.

  He brought me upstairs and laid down with me. I soon stopped crying but my breathing wasn't all that good. I finally just closed my eyes and tried to go to sleep. Today was shit. My mind was everywhere thinking about what might have happened if they didn't split up. If they didn't go. I finally just fell asleep.
