Jack

In the morning, I woke to a loud banging on the bedroom door. I groaned as I climbed out of bed, Avery was still peacefully asleep from her side of the small bed that we had spent the night sleeping in. I slipped on my boxers as I headed towards the door.

I yawned as I opened the door. I froze as I saw Avery's oldest brother, Jamie, his was twenty-six years old and an exact copy of his father. He had an angry look on his face when he saw me standing at the door in only my boxers.

"Avery better not be naked in there?" he growled. One thing about Avery's brothers were that they were extremely of her, just like her father.

My face paled at those words. We had decided not to change back into our pyjamas last night after our love making, we loved the feeling of each other's skin against the other.

"You bastard," he muttered shoving me out of the way. He stepped into the room and saw that Avery was still asleep with the covers pulled over her. "She's not some girl that you can just sleep with then move on," he yelled at me. I knew that he was going to wake up Avery with how loud he was being.

"I know she's not some girl, she's my wife," I told him.

Jamie froze and I heard a gasp from behind him and saw that Avery was awake and she had heard everything said between us. "Jamie," she muttered as she pulled the covers tightly around her.

He turned around. "Is he tell the truth?" he asked her.

"Yes," she sighed. "We got married in the summer."

"Does Mom know?"

"No not yet."

"You'd better tell her at lunch," he said. "Both of you."

"What lunch?" we both asked confused.

"The one I came to pick you up for, the one we have every month, the one neither of you have been to in the last year," Jamie sighed.

"Oh, I forgot about that," Avery said. "Let us get changed and we'll be down in a minute."

"Fine," Jamie stormed out of the bedroom.

As soon as Jamie left I walked over to Avery and kissed her lightly. "Everything is going to be alright, baby."

She nodded in agreement, I knew that she was worried about how her parents were going to react when we told them.

The car ride to Avery's parents' house was quiet, Jamie and his wife were silent in the front, and Avery and I weren't saying a word as we held hands. Today was the first day that both our families would be together fully since I left for college last year, it was going to be weird.

When we arrived Avery's parents us happily. I even saw Holly smile slightly at the sight of Avery and I's hand clasped together.

Soon we were settled down for lunch, my parents had arrived a little after we did with Isla. My mom told me that she was pleased to see Avery and me together.

"We have an announcement to make," I said, only Avery, Eric and Mom I had an idea what I was going to say. "Well... um you're going to be shocked when I tell you this, I know Avery and I were but we got married this summer on our road trip."

All their faces were in shock at what I just told them. "Yay!" Holly squealed surprising us all. "You're finally together, I thought after last year this would never happen."

"Yeah me too," I smiled at her.

"So you finally told him about the baby then?" Holly said to Avery.

Avery froze beside me. I was confused about how Holly knew about the baby already, but I guessed that Avery had told her last night at some point. "I found out last night," I said with a smile. "I'm really happy about it."

Holly had a confused look on her face as soon as I said that.

Suddenly Avery rushed out of the room. There was something that she wasn't telling me.

Avery

I knew as soon as Mom said about the baby, I was in trouble, I hadn't told Mom about being pregnant right now. On Kelly knew about the baby I had lost, the only way Mom would have found out is if Kelly had told her. I needed to talk to Kelly and Jack.

I had never wanted to tell Jack about the baby but now I needed to. I just hoped that he wouldn't hate me.

I ran up to my old bedroom and threw myself onto the bed. Tears leaked out of my eyes quickly as I dialled Kelly's number. "How could you?" I cried as soon as she answered.

"How could I what?"

"Tell my mom about the miscarriage," I sobbed.

I heard a gasp from the doorway and saw that Jack was standing there with a shocked look on his face.

"I'm so Avery, I had to tell someone, you're mother needed to know. You needed help after you lost it."

"You had a miscarriage," said Jack stepping further into my bedroom. "When?"

"Last year after you went to college," tears fell down my face as I told him.

"Was the baby mine?" he asked sadly. He came and sat by me slowly.

I nodded. He took one of my hands and held it tightly in his. I really didn't want him to leave. "I lost the baby the morning after I found out, it broke me."

"Were you ever going to tell me?"

"Truthfully, no. I didn't want to break your heart, I didn't want you to know that you had lost a baby that you never knew about. I'm sorry," I sniffed.

"Baby, that must have been so hard for you," he kissed me lightly after brushing away some of the tears on my face.

"I don't want to lose this baby Jack, there will be nothing left of me if I do."

"Then we'll be extra carefully, we'll book you an appointment at the clinic as soon as possible and make sure everything is okay."

"Thank you Jack."

"I'd do anything for you baby. I love you."

"I love you too, Jay."
