Run Away Forever

Chapter One

Present day

“Baby girl put Jack in the in the car and then we can go,” Freddy said.

I’ve known Freddy for the past six years, he knows everything about me and for the past four months he been my sort of boyfriend. He’s my sort of boyfriend because one: we kiss, not much but it’s nice when we do, two: he’s been there for me, three: he’s my best friend, and four: he sees other girls. I think it’s only fair for him to go out and hook up with some random girl, he is a twenty year old guy with needs that I just can’t give him. Those needs were taken from me a long time ago and I just can’t give them to Freddy. I’m so glad that he understood.

I grabbed Jack off the floor, he learned to walk just over a year ago but he still loves to be carried everywhere, its lucky that I don’t mind. I love the feeling of him in my arms. Jack is my son, he was born in January two years ago and this time three years ago be was being conceive, on this day to be exact. I would have told the father, if I knew where he was. After I left that morning I never saw him again, it didn’t help that I didn’t know his name or have his number. I had no way of contacting him.

The late May sun shun down on us as Freddy packed the last of the bags into his car. I strapped Jack into his baby seat in the back of Freddy’s car. He looked so cute sitting there with his little smile on his face, I was so sure he inherited it from his father.

We were moving across the country, I couldn’t stay here anymore, it was too much for me. Everything in the last few months had gone down the drain hole. I needed to be away all because my mother kicked me out last month when I turned twenty. She thought I was stupid for getting pregnant at seventeen, she didn’t even care for Jack and he was the sweetest baby on this planet. She never did anything for us, I had to drop out of school just to take care of Jack, and I had to get a job in the evenings when he was asleep just so I could buy some clothes for him. She had no idea how tough it was on me.

I loved my son to death, I’d do anything for him. Now I was moving away for him so we could have a better life together. Sometimes I just wished that I knew his father, even if it was just his name I could have found him and talked to him about Jack. I wanted to know if he wanted to be in Jack’s life or not. Freddy has been great at looking after us but he is no role model for Jack to grow up with.

“Okay baby girl strap in and we can go,” Freddy smiled climbing into the driver’s seat. I climbed in next to him and looked back to Jack, I loved him so much. Jack sat peacefully in his chair playing with his favourite toys. Freddy flipped on the radio as he started the car, Jack giggled along with the music.

 The journey was long and tiresome but I was glad to get away. Once we had reached the house we settled in quickly. Jack and I were sharing for now, Freddy had his own room across the hall. Olivia the house’s owner showed us these rooms and helped us settle in. she also told me to go out for a little while because I looked stressed and time away from Jack would help.

I headed out to the local bar and ordered my favourite drink, Pina colada. Soon enough I found myself relaxed and wanting to dance. So I got up and went to the dance area where everyone else was dancing. I felt free.

 Being back at Olivia’s and Mike’s after spring break with my parents always felt good. I loved my parents but I loved being here too. I’ve been living here two years since I graduated high school, it also helped that the college wasn’t too far from here too.

I grew up here every summer, my family vacationed here every year. I loved the beach and the atmosphere here. It was my second home. When I graduated high school I moved here with my parents’ permission, they said that would let me move here as long as I stayed with Olivia. Olivia was my parents’ best friend.
