(Olivia's POV)
December 31 came with a beautiful morning of rain, perfect to melt the left snow outside. I turned around and there he was. Sleeping like a baby, low and cute snores coming out of his mouth. His arm was being used as his pillow and the other was placed in front of his face. I smiled for myself. I wanted my baby to have his eyes, his nose, his lips. He was such a beauty, even when sleeping and snoring. I lifted the blankets slowly and looked to his body. His naked and warm skin was perfect and every muscle of his just made him even better. The black boxers were totally unnecessary in my view, but... He was a large man, tall and board shouldered. Beside him, I was so little and short, even wearing heals. But he was the perfect person to fill the place beside me on my bed. I kissed the point of his nose softly, driving the kisses all over his face, so he could wake up slowly.
-Hum... -he nodded softly and cute, and smiled, searching for my back with his hand and eyes still closed.
-Good morning, my gorgeous man. -I whispered, watching carefully every inch of his perfect face. He opened his eyes slowly, smiling at me. He stretched his arms back, showing his great biceps. I climbed over him, kissing his manly chest, playing with his light brown chest hairs.
-Good morning, my beautiful pregnant bride. How are you feeling? -he said, looking concerned at me.
-I'm good. I still feel my stomach a bit thick and swollen, but I'm fine. -I said, receiving a sweet kiss from him.
-And how's my baby going? Did he punch your belly much? -he asked, touching my belly under my shirt. I laughed of how humble and cute he was.
-Richard, I don't feel anything yet. It's too early to feel him punch. -I said, still laughing. He dived under the blankets, lifted my shirt and started to give kisses all over my belly, making me cry of laughing.
-Good morning, my love! Please, can you grow fast? I have to feel you punching your mommy's belly! I'm too excited and anxious for it! Please grow! -he said, kissing my belly between his words. I felt my tears running down my face of how much I was laughing.
-Please, stop! I'm already crying! Stop, your beard tickles me! -I shouted, trying impatiently to get him out of my belly. Suddenly he stopped. I uncovered our bodies and I saw what he was doing. He had his ear glued to my belly and a very serious face. I burst with laughing again.
-What on earth are you doing, you dork?! -I said, covering my mouth while laughing.
-Shush, I'm trying to hear. -he said, very concentrated on his job. I tried not to laugh, but it was almost impossible.
-Babe, the only thing you will hear is my stomach burping. -I said, running my fingers through his crazy bed hair. He gave up and climbed over my side. I kissed his lips and smiled at him.
-You are so cute, you know that? -I said, feeling too much in love with that man beside me. He smiled back and looked at my back.
-Oh, shit! We are late! And it's New Year! Chop, chop, chop, my lady. We've got to move. -he said, jumping out of bed and locking himself in the bathroom. The next thing I heard was the water from the shower and his deep and powerful voice singing «I'm singing in the rain». I sighed, still lying on the bed and staring at the ceiling.
-You have no idea how lucky you are. -I said, touching my thin belly, talking to my baby. -You'll always be loved by your crazy father and by me. We already love you so much, little bean. -I said, feeling butterflies inside. I couldn't wait to feel that wonderful sensation of him moving in my belly. I jumped out of my bed and made my hands to work. We had to get everything ready for our New Year's dinner with all the staff from The Independent and then we had to move to the center of London to see the fireworks.
We met with the guys from the business at a restaurant, not in the center of London, but close to it. Ian was very happy to see Richard and they spent so much time talking and laughing. I, on the other hand, had a very nice conversation with Dr. Evans. It was very nice to meet with everyone, after all that happened. We ale plenty of good food and wine, but I had to take it easy. We decided not to tell anyone about my pregnancy, just for precaution. During the dinner, I felt a huge anxiety inside. So much happened during that year and now a new year was a few hours left to arrive. I met Richard in Autumn and now we were waiting to be married and we had a baby on the way. I got me smiling to myself while I ate my dinner. Then, a big idea came up in my mind and I had to tell Richard. I slowly interrupted his conversation with Ian.
-I'm sorry Ian, but I need to rob Richard for a minute. Excuse us. -I said, smiling at them. We both got up and I made myself to the bathroom. When I got there I waited for him to come.
-What is it, my love? Are you feeling bad? -he asked, resting his hand on my belly. I smiled and kissed his lips.
-No. Actually, I just came up with a very good idea. -I said, still smiling. He looked at me, confused.
-What is it?
-I love Alice for baby girl's name! I really do, but... I think I prefer Autumn. -I said, looking at him. He stayed in silence for some minutes and then smiled at me. His blue eyes sparkling intensively.
-We met in Autumn... It makes sense, it all makes sense in my brain. -he said, laughing and kissing my lips passionately. It made me feel so good and loved. Feeling his soft lips on mine and his warm hand resting on my belly, giving love to our baby. I've never been more at peace.
-But why are you so convinced that it's a girl? -he asked me, still rubbing his thumb in my cheek.
-I just... know. It's something about pregnant women, you don't understand. -I said, showing him my tongue. We both laughed and made our way back to the table. The dinner was finished in an hour and then we all made our way to The Eye of London to see the fireworks. Everyone was having champagne already before midnight, but I couldn't drink. It was very cold that night but, because the early rain, there were just bits of snow here and there in the streets. Richard as being adorable, as always. He kept his arm hugging my waist, so that my body was always touching his. Whoever looked at me would think: «Look at that frilly lady!». It was true. Because of Richard, I had always an 'in love' face all the time. We heard everyone counting out loud. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1... The Big Ben rang and all the fireworks jumped into the dark night sky at the same time. My heart was racing as I was screaming and laughing. I turned to Richard and kissed him. He hugged me between his strong arms and I felt so protected and loved.
-Happy New Year, my love. -he said, smiling, his face sparkling with joy.
-May it be blessed. -I answered, turning around to face the fireworks.
One thing: I am LOVING this! It feels so good to write happy chapters like this one! More happiness is yet to come! :)
