House Cat [Neko!Levi x Eren, Attack on Titan]

Chapter XII

"Hey Levi can you come here," Eren called from the kitchen.

He had just gotten home a few minutes prior. Levi spent the day deep cleaning the carpets so he instructed Eren to stay off them so he was working in the kitchen.

"Yes?" Levi poked his head around the corner from the hall.

"You busy?" Eren asks.

"Not particularly," he walked over to one of the stools, sat down and leaned on the counter looking over at Eren.

"So my boss is hosting a New Years party at the shop and family is invited. I thought since I kinda consider you family, that you might want to go with me."

Levi thought for a minute. "Parties aren't really my thing."

"I know and you don't have to I just thought I'd ask. To be honest I just don't want to go alone," Eren said scratching the back of his head.

"Oh," Levi responded.

Eren smiled at him and shrugged. He then started making dinner and Levi joined him. Eren, like when painting, couldn't keep from getting stuff on him to save his life. He got the sauce he was making splattered on his upper arms. After completing the sauce he washed it off but there was some he missed on his elbow. Levi noticed this and grabbed his arm and quickly wiped off the excess sauce.

Eren looked at him in shock. "What? It was bothering me," Levi said bluntly.

Eren smiled at this and continued to help Levi complete the dinner. While eating Levi suddenly went off topic saying,

"I'll go with you."

"Huh?"

"To the party."

Eren smiled brightly at the Neko. "Awesome! It should be fun."

Levi just shrugged and continued eating.

New Year's Eve night the boys go to the small pottery shop. It only employed about fifteen employees regularly so even with them and their spouses there weren't too many people there. Levi was glad of this fact and so was Eren. When they arrived Eren spotted Connie and Sasha.

"Hey guys!" He greeted them while walking over and to them as Levi followed him.

"Hey man what's up?" Connie says fist bumping Eren.

"Not much, how're you guys?" Eren goes over and hugs Sasha.

"Fantastic!" She said enthusiastically. "The food is great this year!"

Eren smiled at his goofy friend. Levi watched the exchange but didn't say anything. Connie looked over at the Neko.

"What's up with you Levi?" He asked.

"Not much," he responded.

"Where's Krista?" Eren asked.

"She's hanging out with Ymir tonight," Sasha said with a mouthful of finger foods. "Most everyone is here tonight we were talking to Samuel and Thomas earlier."

"That's neat, is Petra maintaining her no alcohol rule?" Eren asked.

"Yeah, not my proudest accomplishment," Connie said sheepishly grinning.

Levi looked at Eren confused. Eren just grinned and mouthed "I'll tell you later."

"Speaking of Petra I should go say hi, we'll catch up with you guys later, okay," Eren said motioning for Levi to follow.

"See yeah!" Connie said.

Sasha waved but had too much food in her mouth to say anything. Eren and Levi walked around, Eren said hi to a few people he shared shifts with. Eventually they found a young, petite, strawberry-blonde haired woman.

"Hey Petra!"

"Oh, hello Eren," she responded.

Petra owned the shop and was one of the sweetest people Eren knew.

"Who is this?" She asked looking and smiling at Levi.

"This is Levi, my Neko. Levi this is Petra, my boss," he introduced.

"It's nice to meet you Levi," she said shaking his hand.

"Likewise," he said with a nod.

Eren then chatted with Petra for a few minutes until she had to go speak to someone else. They went back to Connie and Sasha and hung out with them for the rest of the night. Levi found himself enjoying himself a bit. Despite the fact he was uncomfortable in such a large group of people, he found himself content with listening to Eren's conversations.

"So, Levi is this your first time here at the shop?" Sasha asked.

"Sort of," he responded.

"What?"

Eren giggled under his breath and smiled at Levi. Levi looked at his with an amused look in his eye.

"I suppose that is the most accurate way to put it," Eren wondered out loud.

The couple looked between the two boys.

"I'm not following you," Connie said.

"Probably best you don't ask," Eren said, still grinning.

The subject was dropped and before anyone knew it it was nearing midnight. Petra had put up the ball drop up on a small flatscreen above the register. Everyone crowded around to watch the countdown.

"5"

"Hey Levi, do you have any New Years resolutions?"

"4"

"No I'm happy with what I have."

"3"

"That's good."

"2"

"You?"

"1"

Eren thought for a second.
Everyone cheered as the countdown ended. Couples kissed each other and the entire scene looked like it was out of a movie. Eren leaned over and kissed Levi on the cheek. This stunned Levi but Eren appeared to not be fazed. He just continued to look around the room.

"I have a couple goals in mind, not sure yet though," he said blissfully.

Levi put his hand up to the cheek that Eren kissed and then quickly put his hand back down. The party ended about a half hour after midnight. Eren and Levi returned home without saying a word to each other. Eren went to bed but before he fell asleep he heard someone enter his room. Levi approached the bed and curled up on the opposite side of Eren. This made Eren to himself and he moved over and once again he snuggled up against Levi.
He didn't know what possessed him to kiss Levi that night but he did know how much he cared for the Neko and how important he felt it was to show it.

A/N: Apologizes, I can't write dialogue to save my life and I just realized how mean the ending was. Don't worry they eventually get together, I just love this story so I'm dragging it out to make it last as long as possible:) Thank you again to those who vote and comment!
