Chapter XXII

A/N: Two apologizes- 1 I was cliché and wrote a beach trip chapter (don't judge me!) and 2 The beaches closest to where I live are cold and windy on a nice day so my knowledge of a warm beach is limited. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter!

He wasn't sure how he had managed to get convinced to go along with it but somehow Levi ended up stuck in a van with most of the people he knew. Mike was driving and Hanji was in the passenger seat. In the two middle seats sat Marco and Jean, who were holding hands. In the back Armin was squished between Erwin and Eren, while Levi was seated on Eren's lap due to lack of space. Levi thought back to how he got into this situation.

"Hanji invited all of us to the beach!" Eren told Levi excitedly the three days before.

"Who is 'all of us' and why?" Levi asked skeptically.

"You, me, her and Mike, Armin and Erwin and I think possibly Jean and Marco."

"She knows Jean and Marco?"

"From college, she was kinda friends with everyone."

"Sounds like her, why the beach?"

"I don't know, because the beach is fun!"

Levi grimaced, he didn't like the beach. Sand, he felt was unclean and the sun wasn't exactly his best friend. He was a house cat and he was content that way. But he could see how excited Eren was, not that he understood why but if Eren wanted him to, he figured he should be a decent boyfriend and thus he agreed to go.

So Levi was stuck in a car for three hours. Hanji insisted they all go in the same car to save money. Levi didn't mind sitting on Eren's lap as much as he greatly disliked Hanji's taste in music and the sound of at least three different conversations going on.

"Is this even legal?" He asked Eren about him sitting on his lap while in a car.

"I dunno," Eren shrugged.

Levi frowned and laid back into Eren's chest. Eren sensed Levi's discomfort.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

"I'm fine, it's just loud," Levi said honestly.

Eren looked over to Armin and Erwin he were in an in depth conversation on a book.

"I'd kiss you but you know," Eren said quietly to Levi.

"It's fine," Levi said, but he honestly wouldn't have minded a kiss.

"I know this isn't really the time but whenever you feel that you're ready to tell people about us, I'm perfectly fine with it."

Levi shifted slightly which worried Eren.

"I mean we don't even have to tell anyone, I just figured if we do actually stick with this we could maybe tell our friends. You're important to me and I want to do what's best for us, so whatever you're most comfortable with," Eren said quickly.

Levi sighed. "Okay."

Not a definitive answer but Eren was fine with it. Eren pulled out his phone and put an earbud in and gave the other to Levi. They did their best to drown out all other sounds but that of their music.

Once the group arrived at the beach everyone got out. Eren was probably more excited that Hanji. The group set themselves up a couple feet from the water and everyone went to their separate activities. Jean and Marco started throwing a frisbee back and forth. Mike, Hanji and Erwin started setting up a volleyball court while Armin and Levi just sat and read. Eren was already messing around in the ocean and Levi was slightly concerned that he was going to drown himself by accident.
