I really didn't know what I was thinking, but I decided to confront my uncle, the one who molested me and raped me and tell him to go to the police and confess of what he did to me.
But first I had to go to the police station and see the case status. I skipped school and took 2 busses to get there. The first bus I took was only an hour ride, and I sat next to someone that I will never forget. She was a college student at UCLA (later on I didn't know she was going to work at my high school).
There was no more empty seat so this girl told me to sit next to her. She said, "Are you in highschool?"
"Yes I am, Sophomore. Are you in school?"
"Yeah....I go to UCLA. Taking classes about world history and spanish. If you don't mind me asking but, are you supposed to be in school right now?"
I lied and said, "No. Day off for students. All the teachers and staff are having meetings all day. Not sure about what".
"Wow you are so lucky, except for your teachers" she laughed.
She continued and said, "Which stop are you getting off?"
"I'm getting off ______".
"Oh what a small world, me too, but I have to get on another bus. I work with kids which is tiring but fun".
Thinking in my head, "she better not follow me and what the hell? She is taking another bus too?"
We both got off and I waited by the bus stop. The second bus came and I went om it, and of course, she is taking the same bus as I am and sits next to me. She saw me and said, "I hope it's okay if I sit here?"
"It's okay". Then she sat next to me.
I was looking at my papers that I wrote a long time ago about my uncle sexually abusing me and about my parents not pressing charges against him. Then she saw me reading and said, "Is that like one of your assignments?"
"Not really".
"Oh....so you're taking two busses? You must live far huh?"
"I do, but that's not where I'm going".
"Then where are you going if you don't mind me asking"?
"Just somewhere. I have to take care of some things".
"Oh okay.....is it about going to the police?" she said serious.
I just stopped breathing when she said that. Did she know me? Did she know that I was going to the police?
I lied and tried to cover my papers and said, "I have no idea what you're talking about".
"Don't get scared. I didn't want to be nosey but I saw one of your papers and it said "Police" on it, so I just assumed that's where you are going, right"?
"Right".
"Well I figured you are going to report somebody, are you"?
"Yes" as my hands were shaking.
"I hope you do the right thing. I don't know what situation you are in, but I hope you report to the police and this person will go to jail. I don't know if he or she hurt you or your family members. But just try to remember what I'm about to tell you okay"?
"Okay".
"Whatever happens, justice will be served. If not, you have to find a way to make peace with it".
She continues on and says, "Like I always tell myself, 'Forgiveness is not for them, but it's for YOU'". Then she pointed her finger at me.
The the bus stopped, and we both got off and just before I was going to cross, she stopped me, she was writing something down on a piece of paper and said, "Here. This is my number and my email. Maybe just in case if you want to talk to someone".
"Thanks, but I don't know you that well".
"I know, but just have that just in case. I will see you around. What's your name again?"
"________. Yours?"
"I'm going to be a teacher someday, so just call me Ms.______. Bye".
Then she ran off out of the blue.
I walked about 5 blocks and then I saw the police station. I'm actually sweating from my hands and shaking.
I walked in there, and there was a lot of detectives sitting near the desks talking to people. And a women came up to me and said, "Can I help you with something Miss?"
"Ummmm.....Yes....I would like to report a molestation and rape".
She paused for a second and said, "Okay. Follow me please".
We went to a room where there were just a table and 2 chairs and I'm thinking, "This is where they put the idiots to make them confess!"
She told me to sit and I did and so did she. She grabbed a notebook and a pen from a shelf behind her. She said, "So you wanted to report a crime?"
"Yes, but first I wanted to check up on an open case?"
"Okay do you know the case......"
I interrupted and told her all the information about the case.
She got up from her chair and said, "I'll be right back".
I waited almost half an hour. I was gonna leave in a minute until she came back with information.
"I'm sorry that took so long. We are busy today".
"It's okay. I understand. So, did you find anything?"
"Yes I did. I found that the victim, ______ _______ is age 16 and goes to _______ _________ high school......"
"What about the person being accused?".
"Let me see....oh yes... his name is ______ ________. No restraining order against him the case is closed between him and the victim. Hmmmm that's weird?"
"What's weird?"
"There's another case opened. About the accuser and his daughter _______. Child services are trying to get him visiting hours and escorts when he is with her".
"Wait...hold on....so you're telling me that the victim could be attacked by him any moment, correct?"
"Sadly, yes".
"Why isn't there a restraining order on him!" getting angry.
"It says here lack of evidence, no witnesses to the crime, and the accuser was never arrested or charged with anything. He is clean".
"That's b.s. I told my parents about this. Even my dad saw my uncle of what he was doing to me with his OWN EYES!"
"I'm sorry. This is all the information I have for you".
"Of course that's it.....of course that's all you have". I got frustrated and left from the room.
The detective followed me and said, "Were you going to report something".
I laughed and said, "What's the point? Anything I will tell you, will never help me in my case". And I stormed out the police station.
I cried and cried until I couldn't breathe. Then I felt my heartbeat pounding so hard. I was so angry!
But then I remembered, my cousin is in danger!
I have to go find the guy that sexually assaulted me!
I have to stand up to him and fight
