Dorea shook me awake, telling me that I would be late for class if I didn't move now. She was running around everywhere trying to get ready and I found it funny that she was freaking out. I waved my wand and muttered a spell that refreshed me and got me ready for the day.
I grabbed my bag filled with books and grabbed Dorea's hand before walking down the dormitory stairs. We didn't have time for breakfast so we went straight to Transfiguration. The entire way there, Dorea was a complete wreck.
"We are going to be so late!" She cried out. I just rolled my eyes and strolled into our classroom, we got there two minutes before the bell.
Dorea sat down next to me and we grabbed our notebooks, ready to take notes. The class started and by the end, I had filled up three pages of notes. We were supposed to write an essay due the next day about how animals can be transfigured into inanimate objects. This seemed weird to me considering the fact that we weren't even learning about how to do that yet, but I wrote it down in my assignment book anyways.
I noticed that Tom was taking forever to pack away his books once the bell had rang, so I did the same. When evrperyone had finally left the classroom besides us, he took a few long strides over to me.
Tom surprised me by kissing me passionately for a few seconds and then stopping, not giving me a chance to kiss back.
"What was that for?" I asked with a smile placed on my face. He just shrugged before grabbing my books and then he began walking me to Potions.
Slughorn greeted us happily as we walked in, saying something about how excited he was to see our work for this next lesson.
"Today, you will be creating a calming potion. You have the rest of this period to complete it. I do not expect anyone's to be perfect but whoever is the closest will get ten house points awarded to their house!" Slughorn announced, making it sound like house points were the most extravagant prize.
Tom went to fetch the ingredients while I began heating the cauldron to the right heat level which happened to be high. He returned with five cups of water, a dash of scurvy grass, a sprig of peppermint, 1/4 pound cut ginger roots, one cup of powdered moonstone, and three drops of belladonna.
I began mixing in the moonstone and stirred it until it dissolved like it said to in the book. While I was doing this, Tom added in the ginger roots, scurvy dash, and peppermint. We turned the heat low and waited for the potion to simmer for a half an hour.
During our small break, Tom began poking my sides, causing me to laugh. I tried to hold in my laughter but I was so ticklish that I couldn't help it. The grin on his face set me into a fit of laughter because he seemed like he had just accomplished something great but all he did was find out I was ticklish.
After every ten minutes, I stirred the simmering potion to make sure everything looked okay. Once Tom added in the belladonna, the potion turned into a deep amber color. Tom helped me remove the cauldron from the flames and we watched the dark amber color turn into a lighter version of it.
The clock read that there was fifteen minutes left of class which meant we were on perfect schedule and would have enough time to let the potion settle. Professor Slughorn had started to walk around the room and look into each group's cauldron.
When he reached ours, a cry of delight escaped his lips. "Would you look at that! Tom and Dahlia have done it again!"
He began clapping, causing me to turn a slight pink and Tom just had a smirk etched onto his face.
