The start of the weekend had approached fast and word was going around in the Gryffindor common room that the first party of the year was taking place. Everyone was extremely excited and students had been sneaking off to Hogsmeade all week to steal alcohol from the Three Broomsticks.

I had not spoken to Tom since the time after I spent in the Hospital Wing. Not speaking to him had affected me more than I realized it would have. I've been quite lonely which made no sense because I have been surrounded by my friends. I don't know what's going on with me...

Dan and I were back on speaking terms but I wasn't as comfortable around him. I mean I couldn't really blame him for hitting me with the curse because, after all, I had been the one who jumped in front of Tom. But, I was bothered by the fact that he had used an unforgivable curse. Those were bloody illegal!

Dorea nudged me, pulling me out of my thoughts and dragged me out of the common room. We walked down to the Great Hall and began eating lunch. Not many people were in the Great Hall because it was a Saturday and food would be available all day.

Obnoxious laughter erupted about twenty feet away from us, causing Dorea and I to turn around and look to see what was going on. Sitting at the Slytherin table, Tom and his friends were surrounded by multiple girls.

The boys seemed to be pleased with the attention they were getting except for Tom. He was sat in the middle with a bored expression on his face. I studied him from a distance, taking in every feature of his face. As if he could feel me looking at him, he glanced over and met my eyes. His face changed into one that held a smirk. I bit my lip and turned around.

"I don't know what's going on between you two, but I'm so jealous!" Dorea squealed. I just shook my head and laughed as she continued.

"When are you guys going to go out? I can just imagine that you would have the cutest babies!" I began choking on my drink because I started laughing so hard. Dorea laughed as well and began patting my back, trying to help me stop choking. Once I was able to breathe again, I burst into a another fit of laughter.

We were laughing so hard that we didn't notice the boys take their usual seats across from us. "Well, what's going on here?"

This caused Dorea and me to laugh even harder because knowing that if we tried to explain it to them, they would think we were freaks.

Once they realized that they were not going to get an answer, they started talking about the upcoming quidditch trials. At that point, we had finally stopped laughing and listened in on their conversation.

"We need a new keeper this year because Lockhard left last year. Our best bet would be letting McLaggen join the team," Charlus said, trying to figure out who would play keeper.

"But he is so bloody annoying!" Matthew said, he then heard his name being called and turned around.

"Hey, Wood! Excited for tryouts this year? I reckon that this year's picks will be easy. I know that our team will be great," A boy will dirty-blonde, curly hair said.

"Speak of the devil and the devil shall appear," Charlus muttered under his breath.

"Oh, hello. You must be the hot transfer student. The name's Killian McLaggen," The boy said while sticking out his hand.
