Summer break had finally come to an end. The blissful sense of freedom would soon be replaced by the restricting rules of Hogwarts. Although Hogwarts was more like a home to me than my actually house was, I was regretting my return.
Tom had stayed at my house with me the entire break and each day was perfect. It was filled with romantic dinners, evening strolls, a few trips to Diagon Alley, and pleasurable nights. I could tell that Tom hadn't wanted to return to Hogwarts either by the way he desperately pleaded with me to run away with him.
"We don't need to go back, we could just buy our own home and live there for the rest of our lives. Just you and me." As lovely as the idea sounded, I knew we wouldn't last a day in the muggle world.
As of right now, Tom and I were in a muggle car on the way to Kings' Cross. He was holding onto my hand as I rested my head on his shoulders while looking out the window. The butler glanced back at us multiple times, which aggravated Tom, so he closed the divider between us.
The car came to a stop after being on the road for a little under an hour, and Tom helped me out before grabbing our trunks. He held out his arm for me to grab onto as he carried out trunks. Once I took it, we walked into the station and commented on how annoying the muggles were. They were bustling about, acting like fools.
We made it to the barrier between nine and ten, so we walked through and took sight of the Hogwarts Express. I let out a laugh as I spotted Fran cursing at her younger siblings that must have been first years, because they were running around in circles.
"I'm going to put our trunks on the train, I'll be right back." Tom spoke before separating from me and heading in the direction of the luggage compartment. Once he was out of sight, I made my way towards Fran.
She saw me about twenty feet away and a smile broke out onto her face. Fran ran towards me and jumped into my arms when she was barely a foot away, almost pushing me to the ground.
"I missed you so much! You barely wrote!" Fran scolded, smacking the back of my head lightly. When we pulled away from each other, I just grinned at her.
"Well aren't you glowing! What's got you so happy?" Her question was answered by something from behind me. A hand was placed on the small of my back and I melted at the feeling of his presence.
"I tell you I'll be right back and to stay where you are, I return to find you missing. Care to explain?" Tom asked from behind me. In response I rolled my eyes and shrugged innocently before noticing the huge grin on Fran's face.
"Hello, Tom." She greeted, unable to stop smiling at the two of us.
"How are you Francesca? Doing well I hope." Tom flashed his charming smile at Fran, I swear she swooned at the sight of him.
"Good, I suppose you are the same." Fran wiggled her eyebrows at the two of us and Tom let out a deep chuckle. My cheeks just turned a bright pink and I glared at Fran.
"I'll grab us a compartment." Tom muttered into my ear before placing a kiss on my forehead and disappearing into the crowd of wizards and witches.
"Dahlia Key! Where have you been the entire summer?" Dorea's familiar voice filled my ears from the left of me and I was pulled into a tight hug. I embraced my best friend back and couldn't help but laugh as she refused to let go.
"Can't breathe." I mumbled before Dorea finally let me go. Behind her was Matt and Charlus. Matt pulled me into a tight hug and Charlus just ignored me, which I shrugged off.
"Let's grab a compartment, shall we?" Matt stated, clapping his hands together, trying to dissolve the awkward silence that formed. Everyone agreed and we made our way onto the train, barely avoiding small children who were running about the platform.
