It has been exactly one month since summer break began and I still have yet to receive a letter from Tom. Within this month, I've sent at least fifteen letters. For the first week, I thought maybe I had gotten the wrong orphanage address. The second week, I figured he might not have been allowed to read them. The third week, I started to believe something bad had happened to Tom. This past week, I got angry.
Dorea and Fran arrived just in time to see me lose my temper and have a fit. Dan had no idea what was going on so he wrote to them both, asking if they could come. They arrived very worried and understood my anger as soon as they found out what had happened.
There was one last day before my family and I took our annual trip to Costa Rica. I invited Dorea and Fran, which my parents were okay with. However, they threw a fit when Dan told them he was bringing Lauren. It was quite hilarious, if I'm being honest. Mum and Dad never got angry with Dan and this was most likely the first time ever.
Dan didn't seem to worried about it and carried on with asking Lauren to come along. I was very excited because I would be able to get to know Lauren much better.
Although the trip was exciting, I was still upset with Tom for not writing me back after all of the letters I sent to him.
"How could he do this?" I let out a dry sob, letting my insecurities get the best of me, "Am I not good enough for him?"
They shook their head and soothed me by telling me how I didn't deserve any of it. Dorea insisted he was a bad guy but Fran encouraged me not to give up on him. It seemed that whenever Tom messed up or made one mistake, Dorea immediately tells me to break up with him. Fran was always so hopeful for our relationship and I always took her side. It was actually quite bothersome to me that Dorea had no faith in our relationship. It's what drove me to give him a second chance.
We spent the entire day shopping. Each of us bought clothes for the trip and just for our regular wardrobes. When we got back from the mall, two owls were perched on my window sill with letter attached to their ankles. The letters were adressed to Dorea, Fran, and I. They were from Matt and Charlus. Soon, a third owl came, it was from Xavier.
My heart ripped slightly when I saw Fran's face light up when she read Xavier's letter. If only Tom could respond to one of my letters.
Both Matt and Charlus wanted to meet up with all three of us before term started back up again. We all responded saying that we were going together on vacation for a month but once we got back we could hang out. In my letter, they both included an early happy birthday considering the fact that my birthday was in fact in three weeks: July 21st.
My brother had been teasing me the entire summer break so far saying that no one was going to celebrate my birthday. This made my mum feel inspired to throw a fashion show on my behalf. I declined, which made mum quite angry and she refused to speak to me until three days ago.
Dan got a kick out of that and I gave him a good punch in the jaw. I was immediately yelled at and was in trouble for quite some time but my parents soon got over it as they realized I hadn't broken Dan's jaw like he was claiming I was.
Since my parents were not big fans of apparating, we took a private jet to Costa Rica. My luggage was already at our vacation home so I didn't need to worry about bringing anything. The girls, however, had to carry their bags with them everywhere. Dan had carried Lauren's stuff for her and my parents didn't need to worry about bringing suitcases. They spent a lot of time there anyways.
