Chapter 21
Two Partners..
Caden has lost two partners all within the same year. Someone tell me how that does not effect someone?
Caden felt guilty for something that was not even his fault. He did not know a snake would have been there, Tammy sure did not know, so how could it have been stopped? It could not have been, he had decided that was the answer, but he kept asking what if?
What if he could have done something differently?
Tammy didn't deserve this. She was to full of life and had to much ahead of her for it all to be thrown away.
Caden felt he was on a streak of bad luck or something.
He can't forget seeing Tammy in her last moments, looking pale and sick. He wanted to remember her by her smile and her laugh, her bright personality. He wanted to remember her any way other than her last moments.
"Caden." He barely heard a voice, he was too lost in his thoughts to hear it clearly.
"Caden?" He heard again snapping him out of his deep thinking.
He looked over to see Anderson calling him.
"Sorry." Caden mumbled, unsure of how many times Anderson actually called his name before he responded.
Anderson looked at him concerned for a minute but then his expression was back to normal.
They were sitting in Anderson's car which had stopped moving for some reason.
Caden looked around realizing they were just parked and had reached their destination.
Both men were dressed nicely in a black suit, Anderson's being just a tad more expensive.
They both got out of the car and walked into the building.
Anderson was able to attend Tammy's funeral. It was not that he did not care enough to attend Victoria's he just was to busy at that time.
Caden and Anderson hung back towards the back until mostly the front was empty.
Then Anderson let Caden walk up to see Tammy alone.
Tammy looked beautiful and peaceful. She had been dressed in a bright yellow dress. She loved bright colors, that Caden would never forget.
Caden then placed a single red rose on the closed part of the coffin. He was not just giving no thought into it nor was he trying to take away the gesture from Victoria. He just remembers Tammy loved red roses too.
A hand picked up the rose he just sat down and then moved to the other side of him.
At first he was confused and a little angry but then he saw it was Sam.
She offered a small smile with sympathetic eyes. Sam placed the red rose in the coffin with Tammy.
"Thanks Caden. Tammy would thank you too if she could." Samantha told him.
He was not sure if that made him feel good or sad.
"I'm sorry I couldn't-" Samantha stopped him before he could finish.
"I don't want to hear that. It wasn't your fault I'm not mad at you." Samantha assured him.
She seemed less heartbroken then he was but he knew she was just better at hiding it.
She stared into his blood shot eyes from crying before he came. She knew this wasn't any easier for him than it was for her.
"I'm not mad, my mom's not mad, and Danny's not mad." Samantha told him, trying to lighten his heart a bit more. Danny was the oldest brother.
