Chapter 49

The next day Caden was awoken by the sound of knocking on his office door. Caden opened his eyes. He must have fell asleep in his office. He has never fallen asleep in his office before.

*Some agent you are Caden.* He thought to himself.

The person entered.

"Good morning Caden." Amari greeted.

"Morning Mari." He greeted back.

She placed a warm cup on his desk. He gave her a questionable look.

"It's coffee. I am paying you back for a few days ago." Amari told him.

Well he was tired so he would accept it.

"Thanks. I really needed this." He admitted.

He honestly did not want it for the reason he did not want to be paid back but he did not fix him any coffee this morning. Just as Caden took a sip of his coffee the phone rang.

"Hello?" He answered.

Amari stood there as always waiting for him to finish then inform her.

"Alright." He said.

He then hung up. Amari saw no need to ask and just waited for him to reply.

"How do you feel about the beach?" Caden wondered.

Amari giggled which made him smile. Caden loved her little laugh.

"Not sure in this case." Amari admitted.

They both then headed downstairs. They put on their holsters and claimed their radios. They walked into the armory also claiming the knife they wanted then scanning over the guns. Anderson told him he needed a heavy weapon and a handgun. Caden just grabbed a shotgun but Amari carefully selected her machine gun. Caden was going to grab the handgun he always gets but then Amari seemed to want it. She grabbed it off the wall and loaded it.

"Hey! I wanted that one." Caden said like a child wanting the same toy as someone else.

"How about who can reach the farthest?" Amari suggested.

She leaned one arm out far from him then the other on his chest to keep him from walking forward and at a distance. He chuckled. It reminded him of how he held her wallet out of her reach which is probably where she got the idea in the first place. Caden was a lot stronger than her and could have easily took the gun for himself. Though he liked the proud playful look Amari had and did not want that look to go away.

"Oh ok. I'll get another one." Caden said, turning back to the wall.

He then felt the handgun placed in his hand. He looked over at her and she just smiled.

"I know you always use that one Caden." She told him.

She really paid that close of attention? They were just staring into each other's eyes for a minute. Those amber eyes of hers were precious to Caden. He would do anything for her if she just asked. She did not even realize it either. She turned away and picked a random one and loaded it.

They got on the helicopter and headed to a nearby beach. Amari always seemed so prepared. When the helicopter landed it actually waited on the roof for once. They were on top of a five star seaside resort. The two agents rushed downstairs. When they reached the lobby all was silent. People cowered behind objects and in the middle stood a man with a gun to a nineteen-year-olds head.

"Freeze!" He warned, looking at them.

Amari instantly put her hands up and placed her handgun on the ground. Caden followed behind. They still had the heavy weapons on their back. Though the man did not even notice. Amari took notice of how he acted nervous but his grip on the weapon was firm and not shaking, making her wonder if he was trying to act scared when he was not really.
