Chapter 41
Caden did not bother talking to Anderson yesterday about Amari but today he just had to say something. Anderson's office door was open so Caden stepped in the doorway. Caden knocked on the open door because Anderson was looking down at some papers. Anderson jumped then looked up at who was here.
"Oh Caden, you startled me." Anderson said.
Caden nodded. "Clearly." His tone was serious and seemed annoyed.
Anderson looked at him questionably. "Who died?" Anderson joked though that was not normally a joke you should make in this line of work.
"Anderson I want to talk to you." Caden said seriously, not in the mood for humor.
*Clearly.* He thought almost thinking about saying it out loud to mimic Caden but no he would be professional.
Anderson motioned him forward. He stepped more into his office shutting the door behind him.
"About?" Anderson wondered.
Caden sat down in Anderson's other office chair.
"About Amari." He told him.
"Ah I see. So what is the problem?" Anderson could not imagine what could be wrong.
"Amari breaks so many company rules." Caden said annoyed.
Now Anderson understood. Caden was annoyed not upset. Anderson could not help but laugh. Honestly it did not make sense to him why Caden would complain about the girl who's flaw was caring to much about people but he never complained about Valerie disrespecting people.
"It's not funny! I mean it!" Caden raised his voice. He stood from his seat saying this.
"Calm down Caden." Anderson ordered sternly.
Caden sat back down listening, respecting Anderson as his boss.
"I know you mean it." Anderson said. "Do you think I don't know my own agents?"
"All of them? Some times I question it." Caden admitted.
Anderson leaned back in his chair. "Well I do know all of them. Amari has disobeyed orders since her first day." He told him without any doubt in his tone or any issue with it.
Caden narrowed his eyes.
"Then why not fire her?" He wondered about his own partner.
Anderson shook his head.
"Because everyone needs a person like Amari working for them. I would not dare pass up an agent like her." Anderson explained.
"A person like her," Caden scoffed. "disobedient?" He threw at him.
"Kindhearted. Someone who loves people more than herself and more than her job."
Caden was silenced by his words. At one point Caden too did notice her love for others.
"Besides Caden, believe it or not Amari is one of the most well trained agents I know. She does not go against orders unless having a good reason too."
Caden still reminded silent.
"I know all my agents, so I know Amari. I've known for a long time she introduces herself by first name and calls people by their first name. She is the only one who does and I see no harm in it with her." Anderson completely aloud this one girl to break a rule no one else was aloud to.
"Why just her?" Caden wondered, knowing even he was unable to call people by first name.
"Because if she calls them by first name or last, if she is not able to save them she has the same reaction. Amari always gets attached to people she's sent to save, no matter what she calls them or what they call her."
