Chapter 1

2015 February

"Welcome to the Anderson Rivers Rescue Operations Agent Wells." Anderson told her.

The young agent smiled at him gratefully.

"Thank you. It's amazing to think this use to be a small agency. I mean just look at it now." The woman said. She looked around at all the busy people. The head quarters was huge and full of the newest technology.

Anderson smiled and looked around as well. He remembered starting this company. It had become so big now. It was truly amazing to see how much a company can grow in five years. Well it would be five years starting tomorrow.

"You will be paired with Agent Rogers." Her boss told her.

She nodded and as if on cue a man then approached.

"Speaking of Agent Rogers." Anderson said.

Caden looked over at him. "What did I do now?" He asked worried, looking back and forth between the two.

The girl giggled at his concern, afraid he was in trouble.

"This is your new partner." Anderson told him.

An obvious look of relief fell upon Caden's face. He smiled a charming smile and stuck out his hand.

"Caden Rogers." He introduced himself properly.

She smiled right back.

"Victoria Wells. Nice to meet you." She replied.

"I'll leave you two to get to know each other." Anderson said, walking away after saying that.

There was a moment of silence where the two just stared at each other. They were both taking in the appearance of their new partner. Caden was about 5 ft 8. He was a pretty tall guy. His hair is dark brown. She could easily tell he was a strong guy. He was quite attractive but so was Victoria. What Victoria seemed to notice the most though was his eyes. His eye color is cyan but around that was a dark blue. Caden couldn't quite place Victoria's height. Victoria had long, straight, light brown hair. It wasn't tied up and flowed down her back. Her eyes were a grayish blue.

It was her first day which meant no missions. Any new agents on their first day get introduced to their new partner, shown around, and left to settle into their new office. Knowing all these things Victoria did not dress for a mission. She was wearing a sapphire blue dress that stopped just above her knees. She wore black leggings that were tucked into her black boots. Her attire was fit for more of a fancy dinner than it was work. Then again she had no real work today.

"So welcome to ARRO." Caden welcomed her too.

"Thanks. So I've heard you've been here since this place was started. How old are you may I ask?" Victoria wondered.

"I'm twenty-four."

Victoria seemed shocked. "No way! I'm a year older then you but your higher up." She joked.

Caden chuckled. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, I've heard it a thousand times." Caden said with a wave of his hand.

"I hope you don't mind me asking but have you had other partners before?" Victoria wondered.

"You can ask anything you'd like. I have had a few but only temporary ones. You're my first real partner." He admitted.

Victoria smiled again. "Well it's my honor." She said.

As Victoria shifted from one foot to another she turned more to the sun for a minute. The sun glimmered off a diamond charm on a necklace she wore.
