So it Begins

Everybody hopped up when the seatbelt sign was turned off. On a plane, you have to rush so that you could actually get your stuff before too many people were under the overhead to get it out. Rydel went out first and grabbed hers, Riker's, and my luggage from the overhead. Riker and I waited for everyone to get off the plane (because we were just so polite like that. Mostly Riker was and I couldn't get out until he did) and then we filed out behind everybody else. I raced through the jet bridge and jumped over the metal thing that connected it to the floor.

"Yes! We're here!" I was already hot and I could feel the humidity in the air, the wonderful weather of Sydney. I was so excited, you could ask anyone I ever talked to that all I ever talked about was Australia. I knew all the states and their capitals, the capital was Canberra, and ACT was the equivalent of Washington DC. Tony Abbott is the Prime Minister and there are a whole lot of spiders, snakes, and poisonous frogs. I shuddered at that thought. "Where are we gonna go first?" I asked. I wanted to go and climb up the Sydney Harbour Bridge! And go to Bondi Beach and surf, explore the Brisbane Zoo, and of course eat lots of ice cream!

"Well, first we are going to go to the hotel and sleep. I am exhausted," Ryland said, snapping me out of my trance. Oh yeah. It was almost 10:00pm. I wasn't tired though. Everyone must have stayed up and watched movies while I slept.

I walked behind everyone down the escalator and to the baggage claim.

"Found it!" I screamed. Everyone glared at me as I held up my red suitcase.

"Calm down, Ro. We are all tired. Just try and keep your voice down," Riker suggested. I sighed, but then laughed. I had so much energy because I was just so excited. Now came the dreaded wait. The shuttle.

We walked (I skipped, but you get the point) out the revolving doors and I just kept going round and round and round.

"Zanni," Ross snapped. "Get out here. You're causing traffic." I giggled. No I wasn't! There was no one behind me! But I obeyed, knowing everyone was tired. I skipped over to where my siblings (which includes Ellington) were waiting.

"What time is it gonna be here?" I asked.

"I don't know. It should be here soon, the hotel isn't far, but it could be here really whenever the person driving it wants to come." Ellington explained. I nodded. So that means they want to lay it on lightly that we are going to be waiting for quite a while. I propped my suitcase up and sat down on it. It didn't lessen the stress because I was too scared to sit on it so I just kind of squatted above it. I eventually got tired of that and sat down on the sidewalk next to the suitcase.

"The ground is dirty. Stand up," Rydel told me. I groaned. Fine! I was getting tired myself, and we had been waiting for about a half an hour.

"We've been waiting for sooo long!" I complained to Ross, really dragging out the 'so'. "When's it gonna come?!"

"Ell already told you! We have no idea. Whenever it comes." Yay, what a great answer.

"Thanks Ross. Really cleared that up," I mumbled, sitting back onto the sidewalk.

"What did I already tell you, Rosannah!? Get up; the ground is dirty!" Rydel told me.

"I don't care! I'm wearing dark jeans. You can't even tell! And I'm tired, I wanna sit down," I argued. I guess everyone else got sick of going back and just let me be, sitting on the sidewalk. Eventually, Rocky joined me.

"Having a good time so far?" he joked.

"Yeah, definitely."

"Ah, it'll get better. The hotel is really nice and has good breakfast." Then he got closer and whispered "And they sell candy. Sneak out and by some with me tonight?" I nodded real fast. Who would say no to that?!

Finally, I heard the motor of the shuttle. Whoops, that was thunder. And as I realised that, rain started pelting the roof above us.

"Darn," I groaned, everyone else agreeing.

++++++++

The shuttle showed up about 10 long, wet, dreadful minutes later. I grabbed my stuff and followed the boys onto the bus with Delly and the other passengers behind us. I found seat in between Ross and Ryland.

"I'm so excited. Are you so excited too?" I asked them. They just nodded and slugged in their seats. They sure didn't seem excited. I sat and waited the 5 minutes it took to get to our hotel in utter silence. And then we pulled up in front of the hotel.
