I woke up for the first time in a very long time not feeling tired. I hopped out of bed and ran down the hall to Riker cooking bacon in the kitchen.
"Hey! Did you like tour?" he asked. I nodded.
"Bacon!" I said. "Can I have some?" Riker nodded and held up one finger meaning 'only one piece'. I reached over to the plate and grabbed one off the plate, but took another when he wasn't looking. The rest of the boys came tearing into the kitchen already dressed, and a sleepy Rydel behind him.
"Today's gonna be a good day for football!" Ryland said. (American football, not soccer. It's so confusing! Ugh.) "Zanni, wanna play with us?" he offered. I wasn't very good, but the offer meant a lot, so I said yes. After we finished breakfast, wee all raced outside. We had the perfect yard; a hill the top for rolling down or whatever you wanted to do, and flat at the bottom, so you could run around and set up swings or something like that. We had swings and a slide and tonnes of monkey bars for when I used to love them. There were woods and a trail that lead to the beach, which was very convenient. Ross and Ry ran to the garage to get the football and the rest of us chose teams. I was on Ross and Ryland's team (probably because they were so good they could handle having an awful player on their team) and Rydel, Riker, Ell, and Rocky were on the other team. Ross and Ry came back with some footballs and we all took our spots. My team was going first, and Ryland preformed the opening kickoff. Rydel, Ellington, and I sort of just stood back while the boys tackled each other. Football was always a tough concept, and I had no idea how to play. But it was fun watching. Riker got the ball and Ross tackled him for it. Ryland was too close to throw it too, but I guess I was the right distance away because he threw it to me.
"Zanni! I'm throwing it! Just catch it and throw to Ryland, got it?" He yelled to me. I nodded and caught the ball. In the time where I was congratulating myself, I didn't see Rocky coming towards me. I didn't move in time, and he tackled me. I thought I was fine, but my hands slipped and I fell to the ground. Rocky took the ball and ran. I screamed as pain shot through my leg. Rocky dropped the ball and came running over with everyone else as I fell backwards and layed down on the grass. I don't remember crying, but I was. The pain was unbearable. Riker came up to me and layed his hand on my arm before holding my hand tight. I curled into a ball holding my leg.
"You're fine; you're fine," he told me over and over again.
"Rydel!" Riker yelled. "Do you have your phone out here?" She nodded and ran to get it a few feet away. She gave it to Riker and he called my parents. He eventually tossed the phone to Ross to continue to comfort me. Everyone was surrounding me and I was scared. What if I wasn't able to walk on it again? Or if I had a spinal injury and I would be paralyzed? That would be awful!
"You're alright, you'll be fine." Rydel told me. I might be fine, but I sure wasn't right now. Soon, Ross came back over to us and gave the phone back to Rydel.
"They say to drive her to A&E!" he told Riker with a scared look on his face. Riker picked me up and ran up to the back door, through the house, and out to the driveway. He put me into the back of the car and I put my foot up.
When we were driving, he told me "It's probably not that bad, probably a sprain or fracture at worst." But I knew that wasn't true, it was broken. Ross was sitting next to me, and I remember him telling me that whatever he would do next was going to hurt, but it was for the better. I tensed. What could be worse than right now? But he was right, he took my foot and peeled off my shoe, but left on my sock so it could help keep it together. He took off the shoe so that the doctors there wouldn't have to cut it off. The struggles we go through for our Chucks, right? It was definitely a struggle, he later told me that I kicked him in the process (whoops)! It hurt more than anything I could ever remember. Then, the real pain began. We were in the parking lot of the A&E.
Sorry it's so short! I don't want to start the part where they are at a&e, it would be waaaay to long so I'll just make two shorter chapters. And happy birthday, Riker! A bit late, but it's still good. He's 24, can you believe it?! Anyways, thanks for reading!

P.S. I just realised that Americans have probably no idea what I'm talking about when I say a&e, it is the ER. It stands for accident and emergency, not the telly channel.
