You guys!

I went to the R5 concert in Portland, ME on Friday! I wanna tell you about it because I'm just too excited.

I went with my sister, Talli, and my oldest brother Felix (because he wouldn't let us go alone). We bought the tickets a while back and I also purchased the Ryland Meet and Greet VIP tickets. I was so excited. We had to drive maybe 5 hours (I don't remember) to get there. The whole time, Talli and I were freaking out.

We got there, checked into the hotel, did all that stuff and left around 4.15. The Meet and Greet started at 5. We got to the venue at probably 4.25 and got our tickets checked and wristbands on by 4.30. There were loads of people there. We bought shirts and necklaces and waited. It was now around 4.35 or 4.40. Everyone was talking really loud and it just got us more excited. Felix was taking pictures for my mum and dad (and Talli wasn't having it). Then, the people controlling the whole thing told the sound check people to go in. There were like 3 people left, plus us. 

There was no door to the room with the stage so we could watch. R5 wasn't there yet, but I was excited because maybe I could watch, too. 

Felix had his phone out, attempting to take a picture of Talli and I was staring into space, imagining my date with Ross (sure, why not). 

Let me set the scene or else it will be really confusing, which it probably already is. You walk in and there is a little lobby sort of thing, like where the trolleys are at the supermarket (really British sentence right there). That's where they give you the wristbands if you are part of any extra things, like the M&G or the sound check. We all got blue ones and I think the sound check people got yellow or purple, idk. Then, you go in more and there are stairs right away. I didn't go up but other people were going up and down. I know they led to the balcony seats and there was probably a bathroom. Then, there is just a long lobby with a small booth-like thing where they sold the merch. There is a person at the end of the lobby because there is no real end and it just goes to some other hallway. Idk where that leads to. There was a rope in the middle of the lobby so you couldn't go on the stairs side unless you were going up the stairs. The room was like 5 feet away from the end of the lobby.

So, taking the story off where I left off, I see people come down the stairs. I don't really think about it until half a second later, I realise that they are R5! Less than a few feet away! I saw Riker first and then Rydel and Ellington (who are holding hands btw #Rydellington) and then Rocky, Ross, Mark, and Andre. Ross was speaking French (my language!) to Andre. No one really screamed as there was basically no one there, but we waved. A lot. Ross waved and said something along the lines of "What's up, guys?" They went into the room with all the people waiting and everyone erupted into screams. Talli was crying and I was on the edge of tears. Felix was laughing at us.

Lemme say that I thought they would be giants. Compared to interviewers, they are! And Rocky's 6'4". But they were normal sized and looked normal and Ross' hair is about... 700x better in person. I wanted it. I wasn't technically allowed to look in but we all did anyways (bad girl alert). Rydel was playing guitar! She looked amazing. They all did! They sang Doctor Doctor and Lean On. They sounded amazing and it got me even more excited for the concert. But it was around 5.15 now and Ryland wasn't there. He was late and I was getting kind of annoyed. Finally, Andre came out and asked if we were for Ryland. We said yes and he told us to follow him. We walked into the room where they were preforming and they waved at us. There were only 6 people, meaning Felix and Talli and I were half of it! We walked to the left side of the stage and there was a staircase, which Andre told us to go up. At the top, there was a hallway. We went down that and stopped at the end. There were about 4 stairs down and a hallway going left to right (whereas the one I was in went the back to front). R5 was onstage and we were backstage. We could see them! They stopped and we guess who came? They must have been grabbing stuff they forgot of something because the whole band was just walking back and forth in that hallway below us! Ell said hi like 5 times and another girl asked for a picture with Riker. He replied "I don't know how you got in here but sure." Andre stopped him.

He told us to follow him we did. We walked down those steps (where R5 still was!) and we went to the right while the band went to the left. It was amazing. We walked into a room-thing out of the hallway and that's where they kept everything! Rocky's guitars, amps, everything. We were onstage!

R5 was still preforming and we were watching them and it as crazy and then Ryland came out! He greeted and hugged all of us (but not Felix bc that would be really awkward and creepy). He was so nice. We just chatted like we were all friends and had known each other or years. Ryland took us onstage and let us use his DJ stuff. It was really cool and fun. After, we had pizza and took selfies. I was too nervous and excited to eat, but the pizza was really good (lol). He was super nice and talked to Felix a lot, as well, which he appreciated. The Meet and Greet was over and we all went back the way we had come. We found our seats and waited.

Ryland came out and everyone started to scream. He is amazing at getting everyone hyped up and we were so excited for R5 to come!

Max came out next. I didn't know him and didn't really listen but his music wasn't bad.

Talli kept saying she had to go to the bathroom so I was going to go with her but right as we were going to leave, everyone would start to scream and we would run back to our seats, only to see that they were only screaming because Rocky had poked his head out or Bubba had walked by. Finally, we made it all the way out and everyone screamed again. We were convinced it as nothing and kept going but then heard Ross' voice and sprinted back to our seats. We missed the first maybe 3 minutes, which as disappointing but we got over it quickly. I mean, our idols were only a few rows away from us! The songs started and we stood on the chairs like everyone else was doing. I could see really well, which was actually quite surprising. Talli and I screamed the words to the songs and just screamed the whole time. Felix was just really excited to get to play video games on his phone for a few hours straight.

Ross and Riker did a cover of a Prince song (I don't remember which one). It was really good. We laughed a lot and I really enjoyed it. The concert ended and it was sad but I was tired. It was an amazing night and if you are hesitant to buy tickets, don't be. It was one of the best nights of my life.

Now, my throat burns and I can't support any weight on my ankle (because I had surgery on it so there is no cast and it's still broken and jumping around with a broken is just about as much fun as it sounds). But it was 100% worth it.
