"Who's there?" I whispered.

"It's me, idiot!" Riker yelled. I sighed. He was home early. "Ryland! Geeze, I'm never letting her stay home with you again!" I laughed. "Her hand, fixing it really bad, and putting on a horror film?! What were you thinking?!"

"I thought she'd like The Shining!" Ry argued. Riker sighed.

"Come on, Rosannah." I followed him into the kitchen where he put me onto the counter again. I got my hand wrapped properly and he sent me upstairs to change. I got dressed and come back to the living room to Riker yelling at Ryland.

"Rosie, we're going to the airport to pick up mom and dad. Come on," Riker told me. I didn't have time to tell him my name wasn't Rosie, I just sighed and went.

I got into the car, not excited for a 2 hour car ride with my fuming older brother.

It was silent for an uncomfortable amount of time before Riker decided to speak up.

"How's school?" Seriously? Was there absolutely no other question to ask?

"Fine," I told him, not in the mood to start an argument.

"Are you making friends?"

"Sure." I sighed. "I don't want to talk about school anymore. I don't want to go, Mom and Dad are coming back so why can't they homeschool me?" I asked.

"They're going to be really busy, they're coming because we can't handle everything on our own. You need to get out of the house more anyways, get socialized."

"I don't want to be socialized! I already am!" Well, too bad. There was going to be argument. Whatever. "And were you deaf when I told you I don't. Want. To. Talk. About it. Okay?"

"Alright, Ro. We just want what's best for you." I looked away, out the window at Los Angeles speeding by. "We love you."

"I love you too, but I don't get why you don't understand that I hate school."

"If you'd explain it to us, understanding might be easier. And, anyways, all kids your age hate school. But you need to do it."

"Fine."

I realise how short it is, waiting rooms aren't the most inspiring places. I hope you all have a great New Year! And my birthday is tomorrow! Yay! Have a great day and thanks for reading.
