Chapter 21: Small Bump
I rose from my sleep with a sharp pain in my lower section. This couldn't be the time. It was probably just like a small contraction. Could these happen at only four months of being pregnant? Maybe the baby was just moving around. Yeah that's it, but...then again she's never moved before.
I throw my hand onto my stomach hoping it would ease the pain. It didn't. I let my hand ease down onto my covered crotch and I found the unexpected. I was bleeding. There was blood everywhere!
"Finn."
I whispered.
"Finn. Finn. Finn!"
I yelled the last one. He wouldn't wake up and I was scared. Finn turned to me, startled. He looked down at where I was covering myself. His eyes popped out of his head as he rushed to the closet and grabbed his shoes and mine. He put mine on quickly before grabbing a clean, crisp duvet and wrapping it around me. He carried me in his arms downstairs and towards the door. Leading the way to his car.
It was raining. It was dark. I didn't even think about looking at the time. It was probably somewhere around 3 a.m. I could care less right now though.
We arrived at the hospital quickly. The nurse advised Finn to sit me in a wheel chair as they rushed me into a room where doctors all dressed in blue began to rip my clothes off, wrapping me in a hospital gown. They began to connect me to many devices. One showed my heartbeat was to high. My blood pressure was to low. I was loosing a lot of blood. My breathing was becoming erratic.
Where was Finn?
I began to talk to the nurse asking her where my husband was. She smiled reassuringly and told me he was in the waiting room, and that he'd be in any moment after they were done. When were they going to be done?
They connected a breathing tube to my nose because I was beginning to loose my breath. I think I was nervous for some reason. I didn't know why.
After about 30 minutes, they all left. The people in blue all left. They all gave me a warm smile as if the were sorry for me. What was wrong? One of the nurses had tears in her eyes. Should I be crying too?
They all left, but Finn barged in instantly after. His basketball shorts big on him and his white shirt clean. I smiled as I saw him, he did the same to me.
"How are you?"
He asked. I smiled kissing his sweet lips.
"Good. But what's wrong? Have they told you?"
He sighed.
"No. They haven't. Apparently they'd tell me once you were-"
He was cut of by the doctor that came into the room.
"Hello Mr. and Mrs. Harries. I am Doctor Forrest."
He was a chubby man with a bushy, gray mustache.
"I have some bad news for you both."
I swallowed hard. Was it something to do with the baby? Was it something to do with me?"
He sighed loudly as he took in a deep breath.
"Mrs. Harries I have an understanding that this is your first child."
I nod.
"I was also informed that you were told that your baby isn't growing as normal."
I purse my lips waiting for what was to come.
"I'm sorry to inform you this, but you have had a miscarriage."
The words sprung in the air like a million bullets. It was silent as Finn and I took the words in.
