I sat at the edge of my seat. Edgeworth and Phoenix was actually working together to pull the truth out of Damon Gant! Phoenix kept pointing contradictions out from right under Gant's nose, as Edgeworth was pulling facts from his statements. I was a hopeless jury girl, falling for Edgeworth's charms. He was too serious, always serious.
Damon Grant screamed in agony, at the shocking twist that caused him to lose his cool. The court murmured against him greatly. Who would have thought, to actually believe that the Chief of Police, as freaking cute as he is for is old age, would do such a thing as to manipulate Lana Skye, the famous Chief Prosecutor? I could hardly fathom.
After the case was finally finished, Lana and Ema embraced each other. It was so heartwarming. And in the end, she was found, Not Guilty. But the jury still didn't look up to the just act Edgeworth did. They still judged him.
I had to send the files to the Boss, which I did. After doing so, I met everyone else in the Lobby. Phoenix was pummeled by Ema. "Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!!!" She cried.
Phoenix laughed. "Okay Ema, Okay!!"
"I want to thank you, Phoenix." Lana interrupted.
"For what?"
"For helping me and taking care of my sister." She continued.
Phoenix didn't get why she thanked him. "I told you I would help you and I did. Thank you for allowing me to take the case."
I couldn't help but notice Edgeworth, who stood ghastly from the crew. What he told me last night was so intensifying.
"People have always judged me from my childhood to my adulthood. But I'm used to it now. The people could believe what they want to believe, as long as I'm doing my job, I'm doing what's more important...sadly though...I believe this turnabout is coming to an end..."
"Why would he say that...?" I mumbled.
"Hey, you!" Phoenix called out.
I noticed him pointing at me, and couldn't help but to motion over to the group. "Y-yes?" I stuttered.
"Hey, I just want to say thanks for being here. I've noticed you've been hanging around in this part of the court. Usually some of the jury can't stand the cases that I am and most likely try to bail out." He laughed.
I smiled. "Yeah, well...I'm keeping my word for someone." I turned my head to Edgeworth. Phoenix realized right away why my cheeks were flushed and my eyes glistened in the direction I looked in. "Are you into my rival, here?"
I jumped at his claim. "No way!" I gasped. "How can you tell?" I whispered.
Ema and Lana seemed lost. "What is she talking about Phoenix?" Ema asked.
"Oh, I think she has some sort of thing for-"
"No one!" I hesitantly laughed. I nudged Phoenix in his arm, leaving him moping for the hit I gave him. "Don't tell them, please!"
Wright just furrowed an eyebrow. "What? All I was going to say was that you had a thing for prosecutors."
"That's too hot!!!" I blushed. "You'll make it obvious!"
"It's not that bad, I just-"
"No, don't!" I demanded.
"Look, can I just say-"
"NO!" I yanked him by his arm, causing him to topple backward and fall. The people in the lobby stared at him.
Wright held his head, getting back up. "Gosh, Rachael (just to give her a name), must you be like this all the time?"
I stood in a trace. "What do you mean?"
"You've been like this since middle school, always pulling me and yanking me around, and then I got in trouble for the hassle and interruptions in class."
"Only because you always wanted to tell people my secrets, and you never addressed me by my name." I stuck my tongue out.
"See, now I'm gonna tell him."
"STOP!" I yelled.
"I was only kidding, geez." Phoenix stood up, dusting his fine blue suit off.
Edgeworth finally joined the conversation. "Apparently Gumshoe got in trouble with the Chief, but looking at how things are right now..." Miles closed his phone, pushing it into his red pocket. "He's off the hook at this point."
"That's great!!!" Ema jumped up, clapping.
"Thank goodness." Lana gently exhaled in relief.
"As for me," Edgeworth pulled out a small paper, examining it. "...I'll take my leave." He folded it pushing it into his pocket. Upon walking away, the note fell out, and I quickly picked it up. "Hey, Mr. Edgew-"
"Wait!" Phoenix took my hand. "Let me see that." I gave the note to him, observing how careful he unfolded it. He read it slowly, leaving me and the others in a waiting period.
"Hey pals, am I interrupting something?" Dick Gumshoe approached us, smiling about over the successful trial. "I gotta say, we were in a tight spot back there."
"What the...no way!" An upset Phoenix spoke.
"What's wrong?" I asked. "Is it bad?"
"Am I interrupting something?" Gumshoe asked again.
"Edgeworth...he's planning to leave!!!"
"WHAT?!" Ema and I screamed.
Gumshoe's eyes widen in shock. "What?!" Gumshoe looked around for him. "You can't be serious! Where is he?"
"He just left. Read it." Phoenix handed the note to Gumshoe. I read it along with him.
I bit my lower lip, anxiously. "No, he can't." I managed to say. "We have to stop him!" I turned my head in the direction Miles went, and chased after him.
"Rachael, WAIT!!" Phoenix yelled.
"Has no one noticed that it would come to this...?!" I panted as I pushed through the double doors.
