Sitting in his car, I fiddled my thumbs, awkwardly. Miles had turned on the vehicle, preparing to leave.
"So..." I began.
"Yes?"
"How was it?"
"How was what?" Miles lifted his foot off the pedal, glancing at me.
"...your conversation with Apollo...?"
"Oh." It took Miles some time to respond. "It was dreadful."
I stifled my chuckle, pushing my hair out of my face. "...we overheard your conversation with him."
Miles face snapped to mine quickly. "You heard us?"
"Well, we heard you say, 'Do you understand what I'm telling you?', and then, it just went on from there."
Proceeding with his driving, Miles sighed, running his hand through his hair. "I guess I can't hide anything from you, huh?"
"Sorry..."
"It's fine. I only said what I had to say. I don't want to engage in unnecessary conversation with Apollo."
"I understand..."
Miles suddenly stopped the car, before leaving the parking lot. "Rachael..."
"Yes, Miles?"
"Do you think that I'm trying to keep you away from Apollo, for my own selfish intentions?"
"W-Well..." I looked away from his longing gray eyes. "...I know that you only want what's best for me...I don't think that you're trying to be selfish."
"Well, I'll admit, I do want to keep you for myself. But I know that that won't happen—not unless we were to get married."
Stunned by his claim, my eyes darted back to his. "...w-what?!"
"Of course, I'm not jumping to the conclusion of sudden marriage. We've only been dating for one day. But it just shows that even in a dating relationship, men still think that they can just intervene, and take the woman away, just because they haven't made a vow in wedlock, yet."
"Oh, that is somewhat true."
"And I don't want to date you, just to have the title of 'boyfriend'. I eventually want that relationship to grow, so that I can develop the title of a 'husband'...for you."
My insides began to fluster, and my cheeks were as red as cherry tomatoes. Why does it sound like he's about to purpose to me on the first day?!
"I just hope...that you share my same feelings..." Miles sigh. Glancing away, he grimaced at himself. "I hope that you dating me, is because you likewise want to eventually be my wife...if you see that for us."
"Miles..." I exhaled, taking his hand.
He gazed into my eyes, flustered.
"I know that I've never dated anyone before, but, I just want you to know, that me dating you—I share those same feelings too. I want to be a wife, not just a girlfriend. I have hope in our relationship, and our future." I beamed, cheerily.
"Rachael..."
"And if we do get married, I'd love to have children!" I cheesed.
"W-What?!" Miles gaped at me, baffled.
"I always wanted a boy and a girl. Of course, I want the son to be older, so he can protect my little girl, too..." I smiled shyly.
Miles rubbed the back of his head, awkwardly. "Children..."
