I smashed through the apartment door, hurling myself into the living room. "NIIIIIIIIIICK!!!" I screeched so loud, my voice echoed off every wall and object placed within the tiny apartment. "NICK!!!!!" I cried.

Phoenix came busting through the bathroom door in his tank top, holding his shorts which were nearly slipping off his thighs. "WHAT?!"

"GUESS WHAT GUESS WHAT?!" I jump up and down, clapping happily.

Nick glanced down at his legs and sucked his teeth, pulling his shorts up. He blushed, scowling. "What is it?! I was on the toilet!!!"

"Miles asked to take me to the gala, Nick!!!"

Nick gawked at me, as I nodded at his silence.

"No away!"

"He did!"

"Seriously?!"

"Nick!!!" I cried.

"Okay, okay!" Phoenix rubbed the back of his head. "How did it happen?"

The memory rushed through my brain, and I hopped around. "We were taking our separate ways, when he called me and asked me up close! Face to face!" I squealed.

Phoenix exhaled, relieved. "Sheesh, next time, don't scare me like that. I thought someone was trying to rape you."

Awestruck by his vocabulary, I remained silent for a second. "Geez Nick...a bit extreme...don't cha think?"

Nick rolled his eyes. "It can happen."

"Don't jinx it!"

"I'm not." Nick backs into the bathroom, closing it.

At court the next day, I was assigned to a different courtroom. Phoenix wasn't the one who was defending. Strangely enough, it was another guy. He wore red attire, but not a suit jacket. Rather, it was a red vest.

His hair was brown with two cow licks sticking up on his head, one bigger than the other.

I listened, bored by what the case was about. Weirdly enough though, compared to Phoenix's cases, his seemed to be quite similar to what Nick goes through.

"I'd like to call my first witness to the sta..." He spontaneously glanced at me, pausing for a second.

My heart raced, nearly overflowing with panic.

He quickly glanced away, clearing his throat, and continuing his presentation.

What the heck was that? I thought. I decided to ignore that moment and pay more keen attention.

When the court adjourned, I finished my report and I took up my belongings. I walked down the stairs, and out the courtroom. I sigh, still bothered by those eyes that glanced at me.

How did they manage to stop directly on me?

"Hey, Miss!"

For some reason, I stopped, turning around. "Me?"

"Hey! Are you Ms. Moore?" The same attorney from earlier asked, shaking my hand.

"Uh, yes. How did you know my name?"

"Well, it's just that I've seen you around, and it's been so often, I thought I'd say a hello."

"Oh, is that so?"

"Yeah, and sorry about that awkward moment from earlier, when I noticed you in the crowd I couldn't help but panic a bit, haha."

"I-I'm sorry, was I that distracting?"
