We were already fifteen minutes into the case. At first, Apollo had a strong grip on how to handle the trial. But after the opening statement, everything went downhill.

I was truly losing faith in this case.

No matter what evidence Apollo pulled out in my defense, Miles somehow had something better to refute it.

Apollo was on the verge of pulling the hair from his head, and it made it hard to keep him calm.

Sighing to myself, my mind went off into another reality.

I stared hopelessly at Miles. Yet, he wouldn't look at me. Not once.

Kay Faraday kept on relaying a message to him. It seemed like he was going to snap, but he kept his cool before it happened.

Why are you doing this, Miles...? I thought wearily. You could have told me that you were prosecuting this case when we bumped into each other yesterday...

I felt depressed and alone. A void creeping into my heart.

Why does this feeling keep happening to me...?

A sense of betrayal.

A sense of duplicity.

...maybe I had this all backwards.

"I'd like to call my witness to the stand," Miles announced. "Ciel Cunningham."

My heart stopped for a moment, automatically darting my eyes to see the stunning and tall male up on the platform.

"He came today..." I mumbled.

What hurted me so much, was that smile that he had on his face.

He knew he was going to win this case all along.

All I could have done was just sit and watch the show. What was left for me to say in my defense?

I'm being accused of being an intruder—someone who's been stalking Ciel for a long period of time.

I'm the one who assaulted Ciel, and I'm the one who tried to rape him.

I couldn't take it anymore.

"End this case, Apollo." I said with no emotion.

Apollo glanced at me. "Huh?"

"It's no use." I concluded. "Even when we used the example of my hair," I say holding a portion of my hair up. "The judge still doesn't believe it."

"But, Rachael!" Apollo exclaimed. "Miles—your own boyfriend—"

"I don't care." I deadpanned. "As you can see, he's not on my side either. So, what does it matter to me?"

Apollo was taken aback by my bitterness. "Rachael..."

Turning away from the attorney, I remained silent.

Apollo gritted his teeth, balling his fists. "I'm going to kill that son of a..."

"Mr. Justice?" The judge interrupts Apollo's murmuring. "Do you have anything?"

Apollo glanced at me one last time. "Are you sure?"

I nodded.

Apollo sighed. "My defendant, Rachael Moore, has pleaded guilty."

Everyone in the room gasped.

"Her?"

"But she would never...!"
