Miles stood speechless.

"Come in." Nick said.

Closing the door behind him, Miles stepped into the living room.

"Take a seat."

Obediently, he sat down, and stayed quiet.

Nick gawked at the prosecutor. "You're awfully quiet."

"...I know."

"So, are you going to explain to me what the hell happened, while I was away?" Nick said angrily.

"...I really messed up." Miles began. "I did something that I shouldn't have done."

"Yeah, I heard about it." Nick responded. "So, tell me about it."

"Well..." Miles was reluctant about expressing what he's done. "...I prosecuted Rachael's case, and gotten her a guilty verdict."

"Go on." Nick folded his arms, leaning on the arm of his couch.

"...I didn't want to do it." Miles confessed. "...but..." Miles eyes lit up. "...when Apollo said that she had pleaded guilty, I was just...shocked...Why did she give up...?"

"Miles, you should know by now that Rachael knows that you will win. Even against Apollo. And I know that."

Miles glanced up at Phoenix, who furrowed his eyebrows at him.

"Why did you do it?" Nick questioned. "What on earth could have possibly happened between you and her, that you just decided to show up to court, and prosecute your own girlfriend, and send her to jail?"

"...nothing." Miles sulked.

"So, then why the hell did you do it?" Nick began to lose his patience.

Miles shook his head.

Nick exhaled exasperatedly, running his hand through his hair. "Your relationship is on thin ice, you do realize that, right? I'm not sure what Rachael is thinking, but after what you've done to her, do you think that there will be a relationship?"

Miles slouched, lowering his head in defeat. "...I... I shouldn't have trusted Ciel."

"Ciel?" Nick gaped at him. "What the hell is Ciel doing in this conversation?"

"He told me some things...and..." Miles rubbed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "...I was such an idiot for falling for it."

Nick calmed down, and sat across from Miles. "What happened with Ciel?"

Miles breathed, trying to control his emotions. "The night that you had told us that you were leaving to go see Maya... I had received a phone call from him. He wanted me to be his attorney, and win the case for him. Only thing was, it was to prove Rachael guilty."

"Really?"

"Yes." Miles nodded. "I didn't want to do it, in fact, I immediately rejected his request. But then. He threatened not only me, but her. He told me that if I didn't get her a guilty verdict...then he would have Rachael killed."

Nick was taken aback from his statement.

And so was I.

I sat quietly in the kitchen, trying not to be seen or heard.

Ciel was going to have me killed...?

I held my mouth, terrified by those words.

"When he said that to me...I didn't know what to do. I couldn't think, or say anything that would get me out of that conversation. So, I had left the apartment after coming back in, because I couldn't even tell Rachael anything. I couldn't tell any of you. Ciel told me that if I had done so, then he would kill her. In fact, he laid down a bunch of rules, which basically cut off my connections. So, I was stuck on my own, trying to figure out what to do. But in the end...all I could have thought of, was just doing as Ciel told me...just so that Rachael wouldn't get hurt.
