Stacey-
Oh My God, Oh My God, Oh My God! I repeated in my head Not only had the hottest guy in school asked me on a date he had offered to give me a ride home! I felt like the luckiest girl on Earth!
“Where’s your house?” he yelled over the top of the engine
“45 Yerls st, it’s near the Old Museum.” I answered him loudly
“Oh, yeah I remember!” he said before turning back to the road.
He remembers? I thought. Did he mean the museum? Or my house? I didn’t ask him though, just concentrating on how far we were from my house. I didn’t ever want to get off this bike, No, I didn’t ever want to get off of him. But unfortunately we were soon at my house; I swung my leg over the seat and removed the helmet, giving it back to him. “Thank you, again for the ride.” I smiled.
“My absolute pleasure, Stace” He returned the smile. I had a nickname! My own nickname given to me but none other than, Cameron Chase! I seriously thought I was going to faint.
“Um, er,” I started “I’ll see you at school tomorrow?” I finished feeling like an idiot
“Sure, yeah, I’ll text you,” he smiled.
“Alright, bye” I said, grabbing my bag off the floor.
“Goodbye, Stacy,” he answered sweetly, leaning into giving me a quick kiss on the cheek before he turned to his bike and took off down the street. I stayed there on the curb until after he had disappeared around the bend. I squealed slightly as I grabbed my cheek. This was literally the BEST day of my entire life. I slowly made my way up to the front of my house, retrieving my keys, put them in the door and turned the knob. The house was empty, like it always was when I got home; I placed my backpack on the bench and gathered my books before I headed to the kitchen for a quick snack before starting my homework.
My mum, Margaret was a teacher at the local university so she worked till late and my dad, Greg was a Computer Salesman whose Shop was out of town so getting home was a struggle.
My phone buzzed and I quickly ran over to it and read the message, Soz I bailed on U, I’m comin ova 2 finish my HW with U It wasn’t Cameron like I was hoping; it was my best friend Jesse.
Jesse Peterson had been my best friend since I was 4. He had soft green eyes and brown hair. He was a little bit taller than me, about 5’9” and he had just turned 18 in March. He wasn’t involved in sports at all, in fact he loathed them, even when we did PDHPE he wouldn’t participate. Jesse like me had amazing grades and cared too much about those to be popular.
It wasn’t long before I heard the familiar sound of his car pulling up to the front of my house. He knocked on the door and I danced down the hallway and opened it, Jesse stood in front of me smiling he walked inside and gave me a big hug, I hugged him back tightly before I pulled away “Hi, Jess”
“Hey, Sorry about today, I had my tutor move up my lesson for right after school. I guess I forgot to tell you.” He explained
“It’s alright, Jesse,” I assured before I motioned my hand towards the dining table “Do you want to do our homework on the table or somewhere else?”
“I thought we could do it on the couch then go for a dip in the pool,” he lifted his backpack and said “I bought my swimming costume.”
“Sure that sounds great!” I answered. I grabbed my books of the counter and strode toward the couch, Jesse following me close behind. We sat down and opened our books finishing our homework within minutes.
“You ready to hop in now?” he asked placing a hand on my thigh
“Absolutely, I’ll get changed” I said as I started to walk up stairs to my room, I picked out my modest one piece swimming costume and started to strip off.
I met him downstairs, he was shirtless with his red swimming trunks hanging loose around his waist. I walked the rest of the way to the door and he opened it for me, I slipped through and he grabbed me around the waist letting the door slam behind him, I squealed and he picked me up over his shoulder and ran towards the pool, jumping in and nearly drowning us both.
~~~~~~~~~~
“It’s defiantly hot out here” I said as I covered my eyes from the radiating sun
“You got that right” Jesse said laying down next to me reaching for the sunscreen, he motioned it towards me and I waved my hand in dismissal not wanting to ruin my tan that I was working on, “C’mon Stace, I don’t want you to get skin Cancer. Just put on a dab.” He pleaded. I did as he asked only rubbing in a dab on my left forearm. He cocked an eyebrow at me then continued to slather the white liquid on his own skin.
I laid my head down on the pool lounge and feel blissfully asleep.
I dreamed about Cameron, our encounter at school, the ride home, the way he left me hanging only with a kiss upon my cheek. Did he like me? I questioned He told me that he really liked Raquel… Was I his rebound girl? I thought…
“Stacey? Stace? Stacey Wake Up!” Jesse was looming over me shaking my shoulders violently “Your skin is burnt!” he explained through concerned eyes. I looked down at my skin which was a perfect brown colour, hardly burnt.
“Really Jess? I seriously think you need at least one day in Phs Ed” I moaned
“No, thank you” Jesse said as he slowly settled down into the pool side seat
“C’mon you’d look sexy with a tan… and better hair… and body” I joked. He threw his nearby towel at my face and I peeled to off, laughing. He jumped on top of me and started tickling me like there was no tomorrow.
