Cameron-
Ava Maria played softly in the background, contrasting perfectly with the weeping noises coming from each black mourner.
The freezing cold rain pattered on the black umbrellas of mourners at Rookwood Cemetery. Tears leaked from my eyes as the brown casket that held my mother’s body was lowered into the ground. Stacey stood beside me, clinging to my tuxedoed arm, her blonde hair falling neatly over her black, lacy funeral dress. I looked around at the many familiar and un-familiar faces, there must have been at least 150 people crammed into the small isle. I looked at my father; he was standing closest to the grave. Looking down into the beige clay that surrounded the darker coffin, a tear escaped his eye and he quickly sniffed it away.

“And best to you too, Miss Graham. Thank You for coming” I said numbly. This was so annoying, I had to say thank you to every single one of these people who had come to see a woman be buried under mounds earth. It made me sick,
“You alright?” Stacey asked
“No, I feel sick. Can you excuse me?” I pleaded
“Anything, Cam. I’ll thank the rest of the guests, you go” I kissed her on the cheek and paced towards the bathroom. I opened the door and knelt over the sink. I stayed like that for many minutes, before I lifted my head to take in my perfect appearance.
I looked like a male model from one of those ‘Home’ magazines, it was unnerving.
I ran to the stalls and heaved the contents of my stomach into the toilet bowl. I did it again, and again, and again. By now my body was just racked my uncontrollable heaves. My throat felt like I had just drank a pint of acid, I crawled away from the toilet and put my head in my hands What brought that on? I thought
“Cameron?” a female voice asked…A voice belonging to Stacey
“Yeah?” I questioned
“Are you alright? A guy came in and heard someone throwing up their whole stomach” I unlocked the cubicle door and looked at Stacey “Oh, baby you look terrible!” she knelt beside me and enveloped me in her thin, cold arms
“I’m fine, Stacey. Really, I’m okay” I assured
“No, no you’re not. C’mon let’s get out of here, you need a shower and some sleep.” She held out her hand
“I can still stand, S”
“I know, just trying to be helpful” she smiled
“Just being here is helpful enough” I got up and splashed some water on my face
“Let’s go” she said again and I took her hand in mine,
We exited the restroom and walked up to my father, Stacey spoke for me
“Mister Chase, Cameron and I will be going home now. Thank you for letting me come and comfort my boyfriend”
He gave a short grunt followed with a nod “Of course, Sarah”
“It’s Stacey” she corrected embarrassed
“Sure right, Stacey. Cameron” he nodded to me
“Goodbye, Dad”
We walked away from the reception and through the revolving door. I retrieved my mother’s keys from my tuxedo pocket and we walked to the white Audi situated in the middle of the parking lot. I got into the passenger side; I was too tired to drive. Stacey climbed into the driver’s seat and placed a perfect hand on my thigh,
