Cameron-

I flopped onto my soft bed and groaned, Why did I just leave her like that? That question swirled around in my mind, over and over again. My forgotten homework lay carelessly across the floor, I didn’t care. All I could think about was Stacy, how nice she felt with her arms wrapped around my mid-section and her head on my upper-back. She occasionally adjusted her position and her slim figure rubbed against mine and she relaxed again, settling back down into the soft leather seat.

I’d seen her on the court quick regularly when I went with Raquel she was an amazing Netball player, she was a Defence and was very quick on her feet. Raquel would find me staring once in a while and get very jealous often resulting in a massive fight between us. I sighed and ran my fingers through my messy hair, I got up and opened my door and started to make my way down to the kitchen to get something to eat before I started my homework again.

I opened the fridge door and took out the left over pizza from last night. I chucked it onto a plate and placed into the microwave. As soon as the timer stopped on the microwave the door knob turned and mother walked in with heavy shopping bags in her hands. I quickly rushed over to help her,

“Thanks, Carrot” she said sweetly, ‘Carrot’ had been my nickname for her ever since I was kid. She always thought I was so cute when I was little that she just wanted to gnaw on me, hence Carrot.

“How was your day, Mum?”

“Not too bad,” she replied running her hand through her sandy blonde hair, her dark blue eyes were worn out and tired “still slaving away like a mule though.” She let out an exasperated sigh and walked over to the sink to grab a glass of water.

Mum was a secretary at a big name company, but her boss was an absolute dick, always wanting my mother to do everything perfectly and within seconds of each other. I’d like to mash his head in sometime I thought as I unpacked the vegetable for tonight and set them on the table.

“Cam?” my mother uttered

“Yes, Mum?” I answered turning to face her

“Can you please cook dinner tonight, I’m not feeling my best.” She stated as she took another gulp of her water.

“Sure, Mum. Anything else?” I asked a little concerned

“No, no that’s it,” she quickly lifted one hand to her head and pressed her temple “I’m actually going to lay down.”

“Mum, Are you alright?” I asked

“I’m fine, Carrot,” she assured coming to give me a pat on my forearm “I’m just really tired.”

“Alright, Mum I’ll get dinner ready as fast as I can”

“Thank you, Cameron. I love you.” She said through heavily lidded eyes

“I love you too, Mum.” I responded as I leaned in to give her a quick kiss on the cheek.

She walked out of the kitchen and into the lounge room where she sat down on the couch. I turned towards the stove and started cooking.

I finished quicker than I expected, and the food looked surprising good since my culinary skills weren’t that good at all. My mind slowly drifted to Stacey, how I would’ve enjoyed sharing this meal with her, sighing I carried the two dishes over to the table. My father wouldn’t be home till much later.

“Mum!,” I hollered “Dinner’s ready!”

No answer.

“Mum?” I said in softer tones this time. Still nothing came out of the lounge room, She must still be sleeping I thought. I walked into the room, and my mother lay motionless on the far couch. I walked over to her and placed my hand on her shoulder, “Mum, dinners ready.” I whispered, my mum still laid there not moving. I softly shook her “Mum?” I said as I turned my mother’s body onto her back to reveal two blank staring eyes. “OH MY GOD!” I yelled as I staggered backwards “Mum! Mum! Answer me PLEASE!” I screamed into her lifeless face. Tears starting to well up in eyes, I started compressions on her chest. I worked onto her for at least 3 minutes before I gave up and called 000.

“Hello, how may I help you?” the operator said on the other side of the phone

“I NEED AN AMBULANCE RIGHT NOW!!!,” I bellowed “MY MOTHER, SHE’S NOT BREATHING AND I CAN’T GET A PULSE!”

“Ok, calm down, Sir. I’m going to need your address and your name.” she said calmly like this was just a normal phone call

“I’m at 14 Gleenwood st, Sydney and my name is Cameron Chase.” I hiccupped

“Ok, Cameron. We’ll be there as soon as we can.” She assured

“Please Hurry!” I yelled, I hung up the phone and ran to my mothers body, continuing the compressions. I was somewhat relieved when I heard the sound of sirens fill the air of our house.

Please God above! Save my Mother!
