Cameron-

I waited outside the bathroom. I heard a stirring, water rushing, then the door pushed open… Stacey glared at me with red, swollen eyes, quickly turning to walk the other way, I caught up with her.

“Leave me alone” she whimpered

“No, I need to talk to you” I said sternly

“Well I don’t want to talk to you, Cameron”

“It’s about Raquel”

She swung around

“What about her?” she asked

“I don’t love her…she made all that up. Plus anyway I called you that night that my mother died, not her”

“Erm, Cameron…”

“Yes?”

“Is her nose broken?”

“Totally shattered, I didn’t know you could punch like that. Remind me never to get on your bad side…” I laughed and the corners of her lips turned into a half smile,

“I didn’t mean to hit her. She just got me…annoyed”

“Annoyed about what?”

“You…” she looked embarrassed, I was shocked. She was fighting a girl over me, this was kind of cool, No scratch that, this was freaking awesome! I was being fought over by my ex and my super-hot friend. I reached up and stroked her cheek,

“Stacey, I don’t want you to fight over me.”

“Well, she doesn’t get the message…”

“I don’t care for her anymore, I love y—“ I stopped realising what I just said

“What did you just say to me?” Stacey’s eyes were big and bright

“Stacey, I really like you” She smiled a huge smile bearing all of her dazzling teeth. She ran to me and wrapped her arms around me a laughed, I couldn’t stop my smile either. She reciprocated fully, Thank God!

“Stacey?” A voice behind us spoke, we broke apart to find Jesse standing there. Eyes wide, mouth open. “Stacey, what happened to ‘you were right’? What happened to your distraught face?”. He wasn’t mad, he was completely and utterly confused…

“Jesse, I…we…he apologised to me.” she tried to form the words without sounding like an idiot

“Well that makes it magically okay!” he said sarcastically

“Jesse its fine now,” she reached over to pat his shoulder but he pushed her hand away from himself like she was holding a saucepan full of boiling water.

“Stacey, come with me.” He pleaded

“Jesse we have class now, and I don’t think Stacey wants to-“I started but Jesse scolded me with his eyes “Alright, man… It’s up to Stace” I asked

“Go to class, Cam. I’ll be fine” she smiled at me and left without another word. I turned a corner and stopped… I wasn’t going to let her stay with guy alone.

I didn’t like Jesse Peterson, he just rubbed me the wrong way. The way he was always looking at Stacey like she was her whole world, was a bit un-nerving. Stacey never noticed a thing about it, acting like Jesse was the friend that she thought of as a, brother I guess. I knew Jesse didn’t want to be thought of that way though… I defiantly knew that.
