I chuckled lightly to myself as I stopped walking, and took in my surroundings again. It was absolutely pitch black, but I managed to find a street lamp which had gone out, the obvious cause of the darkness. I listened for any sounds of movement, but there were none, just the ever present aching of my heart and the drunken, ringing of my ears but then I heard it.
Slap, Slap, Slap.
Someones tennis shoes, hitting the blank pavement. I squinted my eyes in the darkness but it was no use. All I had was my hearing. I listened more closely, and the slapping noises started to get quicker and louder, signally that the jogger was getting closer and closer. I turned 360 but it didn't do anything, it was just way to dark.
Then I felt it, the hard ramming of a body into the side of my body. I fell, hitting the ground with a thud, and exactly at that moment the street lamp flickered on, illuminating the surroundings. I wobbled unsteadily to my feet and for the first time, caught a glimpse of the bulldozer who had tackled me to the floor.
I nearly, bent over and laughed.
