After "the tank incident," they were only harassed by helicopters and jets, and even that stopped after they managed to shoot down a couple with commandeered missiles. What followed after that, however, were news reports of increasing tensions between the UPS and Russia, with Russia accusing the UPS of invading its sovereign territory without cause, and the UPS denying any such activities.

To make matters worse, some images and videos of Aoloa's colony in action were "leaked" on the Internet, with questions about these being the UPS's newest super-soldiers splashed across them. UPS President Jarvison, of course, decried all such images and reports and baseless and wild speculation to cover up what was, most likely, a Russian program that had gone awry.

All of which served to generate the problem Aoloa was currently facing. ::No Russian goods are allowed within the UPS until such time as they retract all accusations. Just perfect.:: He took a deep breath to center himself. ::We actually made it harder for ourselves to get to Hawaii. AND we probably warned the UPS military that we're coming. What could be more perfect?::

Hokulani glanced at him. ::Well, since you asked, it appears port security in Japan, the Philippines, and Hawaii have all been significantly increased.:: Aoloa tossed a glare in her direction. ::We could try hitching a ride to Australia, hanging out there while things cool down, and then getting to Hawaii.::

Aoloa considered the idea. Australia has managed to stay out of global politics. Being large, yet isolated by ocean, it's relatively protected and doesn't have any particular reason for the UPS to get involved with its affairs. They're generally viewed as allies of the West and of most Pacific states. On the other hand, if anyone spots us, we'll stick out like sore thumbs.

Finally, he shook his head. ::It's a good idea, but I think I know a place where nobody will think twice about us, even if they should realize we're there.:: Hokulani raised an eyebrow at him. ::North Korea.::

It was Lopaka who voiced what the others were thinking. ::You're insane.::

::Am I wrong?::

::No, but you're still insane. How do you want to cross the border?::

::Underwater. We slip into the ocean a few miles from the border, swim a couple miles, then come up in North Korea. We're far less likely to be spotted than if we try crossing the border. The Jong-Il clan are still paranoid beyond belief, even if they've learned not to rattle sabers.::

::And once we're in, their interior is so regressed they won't have anything to pick us up, much less stop us,:: Hokulani added.

::We'll have to hand out near Pyongyang to get whatever Internet access we can. That, or slip down into South Korea periodically, but that's going to drastically increase the chances of us getting caught. They still have a tense border.::

::Maybe we can crack into a South Korean signal for Internet without actually crossing the border,:: Lopaka observed.

::It's worth a shot. Are you all in for this bit of insanity?::

They all nodded, then started working their way around Amur Bay to head towards North Korea.
