Chapter Thirteen

I'd been to work and was now on my way home to go to bed, I walked in and noticed that Ronnie was asleep on the sofa I was confused as to why he wasn't in bed seeing as it was already 1:30am I walked over to him to see he was infact awake and hadn't just accidently fallen asleep on the couch "Hey what are you still doing up?" I asked him

"Deven, I don't know go ask Kacie" I knelt down and looked at him 

"What happened, did you two have an argument?" he shrugged, Ronnie was never any good at speaking to people after he had been in an argument or if he was upset 

"Fine, well if you want to talk I'll be in my room" I grabbed a blanket from the other chair and handed it to him "Goodnight Ronnie" he turned away from me and proceded to fall asleep. I shook my head and went off to bed myself.

The next morning I was awoken by Ronnie shouting I shot up fast and opened the door to see he was only on the phone, I knew Ronnie when he was angry and it wasn't pretty the last thing I wanted right now was for my best friend to be stuck in the middle of a fist fight. "Ronnie what's going on?" I asked him as he slammed the phone down onto the table "Fucking Kacie's done a runner" I looked at him confused "Ronnie what the fuck is going on?" I asked seriously as I went over to the fridge 

"We're going to find Kacie, I have a feeling she went to Charlotte and Jacky's place" I rolled my eyes 

"Ronnie I'm not even dressed" he rolled his eyes "I'll be fast okay" I quikly ran back to my room and got changed but by the time I got out of my room again Ronnie wasn't to be seen I groaned and dumped myself down on the sofa. Seeing as it was quiet I decided to call Vic. I gasped when heard the phone get picked up "Hello" but frowned when I realised it wasn't vic "Oh hi, erm I think I have the wrong number I'm looking for Vic Fuentes?" 

"Yeah you have the right number, is this Deven"

"Er yeah who's this?"

"It's Mike" I sighed in relief 

"Oh well is Vic there?" I heard him sigh

"I don;t know he, well I don't think he want's to talk to you" I sighed 

"Why not? Mike what's going on?" I questioned unsure of what the hell was going on now 

"Vic, I don't know really I think he's in love with you and he's just scared you know" I smiled at the comment "Oh I see I know how it feels but, I wish he would want to talk to me" I heard Mike call out Vic's name and then I heard him say I was on the phone "Deven Hi" my stomach swirled when I heard his voice on the line "Vic, erm, are you ok? what's going on?"

"Deven, please don't call me again, it hurts too much" I stopped smiling 

"Vic w-what do you mean?"

"We can't make this work okay, stop calling me, stop texting me, just forget about me" my breath caught in my throat "Vic please don't do this to me, I thought, I thought you liked me" 

"Deven, I do, I adore you I think you're great but, just look at the reality of us? We can't work out" the line went dead and I rolled my eyes before collapsing onto the sofa fed up and truley hurt by Vic...

It got to about 2 O'Clock and I heard the door open I looked up from the sofa to see Ronnie, sulking. he went over to the kitchen table and sat down putting his head in his hands and running his fingers through his Black hair. I turned back around I couldn't be bothered right now with his and Kacie's drama so carried on watching one of my favourite films Bridget Jones Diary, however it was making me stupidly angry and by the end of it I shouted "Fuck you and your fucking perfect happy motherfucking ending" I threw the remote onto the floor and burried my head into the pillow I was hugging and just cried out everything I had been keeping in over the past few days. "Deven just shut the fuck up crying already!" I heard Ronnie shout his voice cracked and then I think he lost it too. I took a deep breath and calmed myself down before wiping my face and shakily going over to Ronnie and hugging him from behind "It's okay, it's okay" I kept repeating trying to calm him down. I had no idea what was going on but Ronnie crying was something I had never seen before and something I didn't want too. Hearing his sobs started me off again and then I noticed Kacie's wedding ring he was gripping between his fingers. I grabbed it from him and hugged him even tighter, we stayed in silence until he had totally calmed down. I looked up at the clock and saw that it was getting on for 5pm and I had to be at the diner in an hour. I let go of Ronnie and went over to my room to get ready quickly. When I returned to the kitchen he had his head on the table I sighed and went over to him "I have to go to work now, but I'll bring some takeout food and maybe grab some ice cream from work for us okay?" I heard a slight laugh escape his lips and I smiled before he looked up at me "That would be nice" he croaked I went over and gave him a hug before kissing his head  "I'll see you in a bit" I headed out, it felt good to get some fresh air.  

The diner was empty as usual so I spent most of it just sitting in a booth and thinking. By 10 I decided to go over and talk to Ash "Hey you look so glum what's up?"

"Ugh everything is up Ash" he leant down on the bar as I got onto one of the bar stools "From what it looks like Ronnie and Kacie have seperated and Vic just broke my heart" Ash came around to where I was sat and pulled up a stool "Kacie and Ronnie are over? Why what happened?" I shrugged "I don't know but Kacie has packed all her stuff and left the apartment to go and live with Jacky and Charlotte as far as I know" Ash rubbed my shoulder 

"I'm sorry all this shit is happening to you" I sighed when Carl came into the room 

"Guys you can leave now I'm closing up" I smiled and he went over to lock up 

"Do we have any ice cream I could pinch?" I asked Ash he nodded 

"There's loads in the freezer" I went over to the freezer and grabbed a couple of tubs before putting them into a carrier bag  "I'm going to get us some takeaway food, you don't want to join us do you?" Ash laughed "No I don't want to intrude, here I'll cook you up some pizza here so you don't have to spend loads on take out" I smiled at him

"Aw that would be great thanks" I waited around for a bit until Ash had finished cooking he packed them up and handed me the bag "Thanks Ash I'll see you tomorrow"

Back at the apartment I saw Ronnie looking out over the Vegas strip by the window in the living room. I grabbed the ice cream and put it into the freezer before grabbing some plates, glasses and a bottle of coke and placing it on the coffee table in the living room "Hey, I have comfort food" he turned around and smiled "Sweet" I handed him a pizza box and he started to eat it "This is good" I smiled "Ash made it for us" he laughed "So, what's going on?" I asked wanting to know everything that had happened "Me and Kacie are seperated, I've tried with her she just won't listen to me" I sighed "Well what happened to make her do this?" I asked confused as to why she had just walked out on Ronnie for no reason "She, she told me she doesn't love me" 

"WHAT" I shouted totally baffled by the statement "That's not right, she loves you so much I know she does" 

"Then I don't know what's wrong with her Deven" I shrugged 

"She'll come around I'm sure"  Ronnie shrugged

"So what's going on with you and Vic?" 

"He told us we can't work out and practically ripped my heart out" Ronnie sighed 

"I'm sorry Dev" he sighed "god I just really need to get out of Vegas for a bit" I tilted my head. Ronnie looked up at me as if an idea had struck him "Pack your bags we're going on a road trip to San Diago" my jaw dropped 

"Ronnie I don't think that's a good idea" he stood up "Well at least let me think about it over night?" he nodded and then went over to his and Kacie's bedroom.
