Chapter Eighteen

The next morning when I woke up I put all of my bags into my car. Ronnie had gone to the studio and I had said goodbye to him this morning, Kacie was still asleep as far as I knew. Once I'd done packing the car and went back upstairs she was up on the sofa in her dressing gown looking glum. I walked up to her "Hey Kacie, look I know it's hard that I'm leaving, but you know you'll always be my best friend and I promise you I'll come back from time to time, I will definitley be there for the birth of yours and Ronnie's baby, I wouldn't miss it for the world and if you ever need me to come over just call me and I promise I'll come out" She looked down from me and started to cry again "Kacie come here" I hugged her but she pulled away 

"Deven, you don't understand, I should have told you this the other day when we were on the phone but.. forget it I can't" I pulled her into a hug again 

"tell me when you've calmed down a little" After a good ten minutes of crying she took a breath and looked at me I grabbed her hands. There was definitley something wrong "When you and Ronnie both disapeared I, didn't have any one to talk to, it was a Saturday and I went to the diner to speak to Ash" I nodded asking her to continue "Max was there and we got talking and catching up" I knotted my eyebrows together "Well we went out and I got stupidly drunk and me and Max slept together" I gasped knowing exactly what she was getting at. Max was my ex boyfriend, I had no attatchement at all to him anymore but it amazed me how she could do this to Ronnie "Deven you have to understand that I honestly thought me and Ronnie were over at this point" I ran my fingers through my hair "But Kacie you must have known what you were doing, sleeping with Max is one thing but getting pregnent by him!" her eyes began to water again. I couldn't deal with this kind of a situation right now. It's the last thing I needed, especially just as I was about to leave Vegas behind me. "You have to tell Ronnie Kacie!" she looked at me

"No way Deven NO! I can't tell him it would kill him!" I shook my head and took a breath

"Kacie, it's going to hurt him either way! You call Ronnie and tell him to get here right now!" I paced the living room a couple of times "Does Max know?" she nodded "He's going to want to see his child!" As soon as I said that Ronnie came in 

"Hey what are you two arguing about?" he asked as he came over to us 

"Nothing, Deven was just leaving weren't you?" I grunted at her

"Yeah that's right, I can't stand the people here and I can't wait to start my new life!" I stated before storming out of the apartment and down to my car.

I drove over to the hotel Vic and Mike were staying in and called Vic to let him know I was ready to leave. They soon came down and I wound my car window down to speak to Vic "Hey" he kissed me "So how's this going to work?"

"I'll have the satnav in my car so I'll go in front and you and Mike can just follow behind" Vic nodded 

"You sure you're going to be okay driving all the way back by yourself?" I nodded 

"I'll be fine babe don't worry" I stroked his cheek before winding the window back up and setting up the sat nav whilst they got into Mike's car. 

We'd been on the road a good twenty minutes when I suddenly started to get upset about how the last words I had said to Kacie weren't particularly nice, It would have been a good idea to turn around and go back, but it was way too late. My eyes welled up and my vision went blurry from the tears that were in my eyes. I lifted my hand to wipe them away but my hand slipped and knocked the sat nav off of the window which fell. I bent down and tried to grab it but couldn't reach it. The traffic started to slow so I pressed the break but it wouldn't go, I looked down to see the plug was lodged underneath it. I began to panic "Fuck" I shouted as I swerved around a van that was the last I remember.
