Chapter Six

I was doing my shift at the diner, I haven't seen Kacie since I left the studio yesterday and I really hoped she turned up to do her shift otherwise she would lose her job. She did eventually 10 minutes late with Ronnie in toe. I rolled my eyes as I grabbed some drinks for a group of guy's who had just come in. I walked by Kacie "Why are you so late!?" I asked her as she followed me to the table "I totally lost track of time!" she stated I passed the people their drinks and then she followed me as I carried the tray back to the bar that Ronnie was sat at, Kacie trotted off to go and speak to Carl leaving me behind the bar. I looked over at Ash who was busy cooking and he winked at me, I rolled my eyes at him before turning to Ronnie "Can I get you anything?" 

"Erm, you know, I would like to try one of your milkshakes" he said as he grabbed the menu. I took out my notepad and pen and watched him as he scanned the menu "I'll try the peanut butter one" I smiled at him "That's my favourite" I chuckled as I noted it down and went over to the freezer grabbing out the Ice Cream and scoping some into the blender next to me. I added Milk and peanut butter before blending it and pouring it into a Blue glass and putting in the straw, I took it over to him before going over to the table of guys and giving them their bill. Kacie still wasn't out of the back room and that was sort of worrying "Deven, come here a minute?" I looked over at Ronnie and sat down next to him on one of the bar stools "I'm so sorry" I looked at him confused until I realised what he was talking about "Don't worry about it, it's over with now" I sweeped my hair out of my face and stood back up but Ronnie grabbed my hand. I turned back around and smiled at him before letting his hand fall back into his lap. I shook my head at the weird ordeal before going into the back room to find Kacie I'm not sure why she was even working this evening, it wasn't busy at all. She soon emerged with her notepad and pen which was firmly stuffed behind her ear "Sorry, I was just appologising to Carl" I shook my head at her sarcastically and I went over to talk to Ash for a bit.

"You seem to be getting used to Ronnie being around" Ash said to me as he put some guy's burger order onto the grill. I leant against the cupboard "Well I kind of have to" I stated as I looked over at Ronnie who was still drinking his milkshake. I smiled to myself before hearing the bell on the door ring and a young couple enter. I grabbed my notepad and pen from the bar and headed over to their table "Hi what can I get you?" they gave me their order and I went over to Kacie giving her the drinks order. I then went over to Ash and passed him the food order before I went to go and get them some knife's, forks and napkins. I went back over to the counter "Hey, Deven that milkshake was really good" I smiled

"I'm glad you enjoyed it" I went back behind the counter and grabbed some plates from the dishwasher for Ash so he could serve up the food that was on the grill "So how long have you been working here for?" Ronnie asked me as I grabbed a tray ready to put the food on. 

"Erm, about 2 and a half years" he smiled at me "What are you doing hanging around here anyway? Apart from Kacie obviously" Ash passed me the two plates of  food and I put them on the tray

"I don't know" I gave him a weird look before going over to the couple's table and handing them their food "Enjoy" I said before I left them in peace to eat. I looked at the clock 10:32 an hour an a half until my shift was over "What time do you and Kacie get off?" Ronnie asked me as I put some more dishes and his milkshake glass into the dishwasher "midnight" he looked shocked

"God that's late" I nodded

"I don't mind I get all day off I prefer working at night anyway" he smiled and I turned the dishwasher on. "Are you seriously going to wait until Kacie get's off?" I asked him as I stood back up he nodded  

"And you..." he trailed off looking up at me I rolled my eyes at him

"Get stuffed" I replied giving him a smile and dissapearing into the back room to try and find Kacie who seemed to be slacking once again "Kacie come on!" she stood up from the chair and looked at me "What it's not busy!" I didn't understand what was wrong with her today. I wiped her with the tea towel that was on my shoulder "I don't care if it's not busy, you can at least sit out here with Ronnie and look like you're doing something" she groaned and followed me out into the diner and went and sat down on the stool next to Ronnie and he smiled widely when she sat down next to him. The night went slowly due to the fact that we hardly had any customers. I grabbed mine and Kacie's coats before walking back out to her and Ronnie, I threw Kacie her coat and she caught it placing it on. Ronnie took her hand and I smiled as I looked at the pair of them they made such a cute couple and I think Ronnie noticed the grin that was spread across my face and he looked away blushing ever so slightly which made me aw out loud. Kacie gave me a dirty look and I followed the two of them out of the door hearing Ash shout third wheel made me feel pretty awkward. "I'm going to stay over at Ronnie's tonight if that's okay?" I smiled at her
