Chapter Forty One

We decided to go for a walk and get take out coffee. "When are we setting off?" Vic asked me as we grabbed our takeout coffees from the table "I don't mind, it's up to you?" 

"I kind of want to get out of here as soon as" I smiled "It's drama free back in San Diego" I stiffled a laugh "I wouldn't say that, drama follows me I'm afraid, I hope you can handle that?" I smiled at Vic as he wrapped his arm around my waist "I'm sure I can, I've managed so far" I leant my head on his upper arm as we slowly walked back to the apartment. 

When we arrived back at the apartment I told Vic to go get our stuff and put it in the car, I walked over to the living room where Ronnie was sat with Kacie. Ronnie was holding Marie and I was suddenly overcome with emotion by the things in front of me. Kacie looked over and smiled "Erm, I think we're leaving" she looked to Ronnie who was so mesmorised by Marie "Ronnie, I'm going to stay with Deven and Vic for a while ok?" Ronnie nodded in total understandment 

"I'll get it sorted ok" Kacie handed him the letter with the paternity results on it "Just call me when you want to come home and I'll pick you up" she smiled at him he handed Marie back to her

"Ok, I'm ready"  she stated I walked over to Ronnie and gave him a hug goodbye before we left the apartment and headed down to Vic's car. We were half way home when we decided to go into McDonalds to get some food. I was sat next to Kacie at the table whilst Vic got us our food. I had Marie on my knee whilst Kacie sorted her bottle out. "You're really good with her" Kacie stated I widened my eyes "I'm terible with kids, I always have been" 

"No seriously Deven, you're really good"  I shook my head and looked down at Marie 

"She's so beautiful though Kacie I have to give you that" Vic returned with our food and sat opposite us. "Oh god I need to get a picture of this" Vic announced pulling out his phone. He snapped a picture or me, Marie and Kacie "She's good with her isn't she Vic?" Kacie asked and Vic laughed

"Yeah I guess, would like to see her change her nappy" I narrowed my eyes at Vic. I walked round to him and gave Marie to him before grabbing the bottle off of Kacie "Here feed her" he smiled at me and held Marie in his arms and it was the cutest thing I had ever seen. "So what was Ronnie on about earlier, when he said he'd get it sorted?" Kacie gulped and looked away 

"I'm letting him show Max the paternity results" I sighed 

"Kacie it will be for the best, he doesn't even care about you or Marie, drugs come first to him so he will probably be relieved" Kacie smiled

"As harsh as that sounds it's the truth. I never had a love like Ronnie's. I can't believe I threw it all away like that" I grabbed Kacie's hand

"Ronnie still cares about you a hell of a lot okay, I'm sure you can make it work again" she looked up at me  "I'm sorry for throwing you away, you were my best friend and I never meant to hurt you like I did" she was on the verge of tears again so I hugged her

"Kacie you are still my best friend, ok, you made some mistakes, but look at me, look where my mistakes have gotten me" she smiled and grabbed my hand 

"This ring is so pretty" she stated it twirling it around my finger "You're so lucky" I looked over at Vic who now had Marie on his lap and was playing peek-a-boo with her. I smiled widely and placed a hand to my mouth "Stop Vic, it's too cute, you're making me broody!" he smiled at me and chuckled.

We were finally back in San Diego and I grabbed mine, Kacie and Vic's suitcases from the trunk of Vic's car. I walked around to the drivers seat door and made Vic wind down the window, I leant in and kissed him "I hope you find something" Vic was going to his parents to see if they had anything for Marie like a crib or cot or something. I took the cases into the house, Kacie following me "Woah this place is gorgeous!" I smiled

"Thanks, come, I'll show you to your room" 

"Woah I can't get over this place Deven, how on earth did you get so lucky?!" I smiled

"I had nothing to do with this, it was all Vic and his band" I stated. My phone buzzed in my pocket and I pulled it out seeing a text from Vic 

Vic: Hey, I'm staying at my parents for a couple of hours. They asked me to stay for dinner will try not to be too long, love you x 

I texted him back 

Deven: That's fine, stay as long as you want to, no need to rush :) love you too x

We headed back downstairs and I decided to cook for the two of us, leaving Kacie to watch TV in the sitting room. An hour had passed and we were both watching 2 and a half men in the living room eating when someone rang the doorbell. I knotted my eyebrows together "Who the hell is that" I stood up and walked out of the living room and over to the front door. I opened it to be greeted by none other than Jenna McDougall "What the hell are you doing here? I thought you went back to Aus?" I asked she shook her head, narrowing her eyes at me "If you are looking for vic he's not here" Kacie appeared behind me 

"Oh is this one of your friends, hi I'm Kacie" she put her hand out for Jenna to shake

"I don't give a fuck who you are" Jenna snapped and Kacie was taken aback a bit, she looked to me as Jenna forcefully pushed herself by me into the house "I'll just wait here, till he gets back" Kacie came and stood in front of me and folded her arms across her chest "You may not care who I am but I certainly care who you are and why you are harassing Deven?" Jenna narrowed her eyes at Kacie and I stepped in "This here is Jenna, she slept with Vic" Kacie looked to me and then at Jenna "Wait, he cheated on you with her?" I nodded

"well sort of" Jenna rolled her eyes at us "Jenna why are you here?"

"I'm not leaving for Australia until Vic tells me the truth about how he feels" I closed my eyes feeling angry, Kacie suddenly pulled me towards Jenna grabbing my hand "Here, this is how he feels about you love!" she shoved my hand in Jenna's face "See this ring?" she smirked evily "Yeah that's right he doesn't love you" I smiled at Kacie glad to have my best friend back. "Now are you going to leave on your own or do I have to make you leave?" Kacie clenched her fists and I widened my eyes at her, Jenna smirked "I think I'll stay actually, do you have any leftovers?" I rolled my eyes and folded my arms across my chest before Kacie pounced on Jenna. I didn't stop her I wanted her out of my house now. Kacie had her hand wrapped around Jenna's neck pinning her to the wall. I bit my lip slightly nervous at how violent Kacie was being. She raised her knee to Jenna's stomach winding her. Jenna doubled over in pain and Kacie loosened her grip on Jenna "Here Deven, now's your chance? Just hit her!" adrenaline shooted through my veins "Come on Deven, she had sex with your fiance!" I took a deep breath in and approach Jenna clenching my fist "Don't let her win!" Kacie shouted and I clenched my teeth and raised my fist to Jenna's face...

Jenna left shortly after she had overcome the pain in her face and stomach "Don't think I won't be telling the cops about this!" 

"Yeah whatever Jenna!" Kacie shouted slamming the door behind her. I stood there motionless 

"I can't believe I just did that" Kacie smiled at me 

"You did good, you've got to learn to be more defensive, don't let people push you around and walk all over you" Kacie announced as she went into the living room to Marie who was asleep in the on the sofa. 

Vic arrived home and I helped him bring the stuff for Marie in and up to Kacie's room. "Vic you're a life saver!" Kacie announced hugging him whilst I set the cot up.

"Did you have fun at your parents?" 

"Yeah, Mike was there so it was pretty good to spend time, just the four of us y'know" I nodded 

"What did you girls do?" I looked to Kacie 

"Oh you know we just made some pasta and watched TV"  I stated nervously. I didn't want to tell him about the surprise visit Jenna had made.
