What have I missed?

Chapter 14:The party invite

It was after school and I needed to return a few books so I was in the library. I saw Ally in the corner reading 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets'. I decided it wouldn't hurt if I joined her and so went and sat on the purple cushiony seat next to her. She looked up and gave me a smile of acknowledgement and then went straight back to being engrossed in her book. I offered her one of the strawberry bon bons I was eating and she politely declined. 

I figured she was too absorbed by her book to talk and so sat wondering about Louis. Did he believe Alice? Probably, after all, she is his girlfriend. So now he thinks i'm some lunatic and will never speak to me again. Brilliant. Is this karma? Is life repaying me for previously doing something wrong, because that's the only explanantion I can come up with for why everything is going so wrong. My phone started vibrating whilst playing 'Thrift Shop' and I realised someone was ringing me. 

"Hello" I answered unsure of who I was speaking to because I answered without checking the caller ID. 

"Ash, where are you?" My mum asked sounding panicked. 

"I'm at the library, had to return a book. Sorry, i forgot to tell you. Be home soon, bye mum" I quickly ended the phone on her so I wouldn't have to hear her complain about how I hadn't told her where I was. I got up to leave and noticed Ally stop reading her book. 

"I was just wondering-" Ally spoke in a nervous sort of tone. "If you wanted to come round my house tomorrow after school, we could work together on the project we have to do in french" 

"Yeh, sounds great, meet me at the carpark after school and we can walk home together!" I replied realising I might have come across a little too excited. I was so happy that Ally must have liked me enough to ask me round her house, so someone at school actually likes me. 

~The next day~

I was walking over to Ally, observing how perfect the sky looked at the moment, when somoene behind me coughed. I turned to see Joanna and Lucy, the popular girls. 

"Er, I was just wondering if you wanted to come to a party at my house this saturday, most of the school will be there." Joanna said with a nervous smile. 

"Why?" I realised I sounded rude but these were the people I least expected to be inviing me to a party. 

"Well, we felt bad about being horrible to you, and we think it wasn't right for Katherine to knock you out, so we wanted to make it up to you" Lucy half whispered appearing guilty. 

"Oh, well yeh, I might make an appearance." I said nonchalantly trying to cover my excitement of being invited to a party by the popular girls.

"Well here's the invite, it says all the times and information, hope you can come!" Joanna said and her and Lucy walked away, leaving me standing there holding an invite to a party, something I had never received before.
