Jake sat down next to me on the couch, gripping onto my hand, making sure I was alright. I loved Jake, not like that though, like a brother, a best friend. He never left even though I ignored him, he stayed outside my door, waiting. Waiting until I couldn't take it anymore and I would fall into his arms.

And that's exactly what happened.

"Ella, just tell me when you're ready ok?" He said while rubbing my hand with his thumb. I just nodded in response. "Ella, did he hurt you? Not emotionally but in a physical way? 'Cause if he did-"

"He didn't, I promise. All he did was yell. That was enough to hurt me." I said so quietly. "I deserved it though, I hurt him. I deserved to be hurt back. I did, really." I said my eyes meeting his. I looked away from his sad, worried look he gave me.

"Don't say that. Please, don't. You didn't deserve it, you had a reason. He didn't." He said. I took my time and thought. Finally I spoke up.

"He did have a reason though. He was hurt, He had to get it out." I said.

"Can you stop f****** saying that? Sure he was hurt! But that bastard couldn't see that you were already too? Did he even listen or was he to busy thinking of he should do!?  Ella, he's a jerk. He doesn't deserve an amazing person like you!" He yelled banging his fists on the coffee table. I gasped at his reaction to what happened.

Jake's POV :

She looked at me with terror in her eyes, scooting away from me.

"I'm sorry, I just care about you. I hate seeing you like this. I'm just mad he hurt you." I said. She simply just nodded, looking down at her feet. I took a deep breath. This wasn't Ella, not the one I knew. The energetic, funny, happy, Ella.

"Who are you?" I whispered causing her to look at me in the eyes. She gave me a confused look.

"I know you're not Ella Grace Smith. So really please just tell where she really is. I want to see her smile again." I joked grabbing her hand again.

"I don't know where she is." She mumbled.

"But I miss her." I whined resting my head on her shoulder.

She put her head on mine and squeezed me hand.

"I miss her too." She said.

I looked up and saw a small smile form on her lips.

That's all I needed.
