I float an inch beneath the surface
of an ocean blue as dark night hue
below me the depths are endless
spiralling down in a royal blue hue
The ocean beckons me into waters deep
and I am immersed in silent sleep
smouldered, smothered, swallowed
by a seeming emptiness (but it is far from empty)
The ocean is cool and drifting
I float just beneath the surface
an inch away from cruel reality
but in this silence, moments of tranquillity are mine
I could sink for ever and ever
into these navy nights, indigo a go go
Cobalt tears cried by the heavens
which swaddle me in safety so serene
The moon glittering its glow above
through the water's skin
shining upon the sapphire salt
painting my flesh pearly white, as it turns tides
But to the surface I am dragged
away from azure ambrosial oceans
back to above the surface
where reality slaps me alive and I awake again
But I'll return to you in the quiet of the night
I promise, I promise you I will
