the awakened eye;
poised pout with cheekbone
and turn of mouth, the held jaw
of humble pride
and assumed confidence.
the set of the shoulders
-back and straight ahead
with the balletic poise
which was built into me
in early youth
like that.
the feet pointing straight ahead
and measured strolling stride
purposeful but carelessly controlled
and again show you and me
I am quietly proud
(so I hope)
it is important to remember;
the shape, the stance,
the movement of hands
and fingers -sit straight
never slouch, alert
and attentive, bright-eyed face
open and calm
that look of je ne sais quoi
the horsewoman too
with her elbows, hips and heels
in line to assume perfect balance
'heels down!' 'elbows at sides!'
and thumbs pointing upwards
(as if holding cups of tea)
back straight and eyes always ahead.
posture means much to me
you see
with attention to detail
and maybe it's a Virgo's eye
but was I really always this paranoid
of how you all see me?
