I quickly walk back in with the intention to go straight to the secretary. Only she is not here anymore; no one is. The desk she sat at is all empty, only the incessant buzzing sound of the computer she left behind is hearable. Maybe I missed Alissa and she's now sitting back in the room with the officer again? Expecting for that thought to be true, I head back relieved, yet startle when I see the officer's still sitting alone.

"Alissa's not back?" I immediately ask, standing in the door opening.

Sighing, he folds his hands into a pray position.  "I cancel this inquisition. Please, leave."  The officer grumbles, showing me the amount of compassion which is 0%.

I widen my eyes, looking questionably at him. "What?"

He's joking, right? I thought the police department was supposed to care for the safety of the civilians, and he just sends me away like that? Immediately pops in my mind as I stand there in the door opening, feeling the same abandoned feeling  I always tend to feel whenever someone I trust shows me otherwise.

"Leave, please." He repeats, now lifting both of his eyebrows just the same as he did when Alissa asked to go to the restroom.

If I didn't have a lump in my throat right now, I would've discussed with him, telling him that what he is doing to a sixteen years old girl isn't decent. But I can't, I'd cry trying to say it. It's like he's shifting the blame on me, confusing me with some criminal peer and above all: judging me.

So I quickly head back, keeping my head down in disdain. No one has to see me like this, Everyone would think I'm a sad, emotional weak little sixteen years old, while I'm actually really angry. I hate it, that I have to cry when the impotence comes in which will next occupy my thoughts for the next few days, keeping me awake at night. I'm never able to truly explain how I feel about things without the stuttering, shaky voice kicking in.

But I have no intention and no time for being broody right now, I need to think clear; what's my next step?

Call her, of course. Why didn't I think about that earlier?

I stand still in the lobby and quickly grab my phone from my back pocket, looking for her number in my contact-list and call her, holding the phone expectantly against my ear.

<....>  The first beep.

<...> The second.

<...>  The third.

I switch the phone to my other ear. C'mon Alissa...

<...>  The fourth.

"Alissa speaking!".

I sigh relieved. Finally! Thank goodness...

"Alissa! Whe..."  But I get interrupted.

"Please leave a message after the tone".

Voicemail. I should have known, withal, I was there when she recorded that message, stupid...I don't know what, but there's something really off about this... She never just leaves without informing me. But on the other hand, what could've happened while going to the restroom? Besides, it's not like someone would get kidnapped inside a police building.  But as usual, my mind makes things worse than it is.

"I need to think clear." I whisper to reassure myself.

Where could she be...?

Yet after minutes of thinking, nothing  - except of fictional things that happens only in movies – comes in mind.

Maybe I should call her mom and dad.

No, not yet her mom or dad, I don't want to make mischief.
