Caught Up In Quarrels

I'm still sitting in the car and I'm hearing everything they say because of the open window.

Mason groans and falls to his knees. I see the irony of it. He pulls the stingy object out and throws it away.

"So, what was your plan, leave this one-horse town with her and just tell no one about it? I mean sure, go ahead. No one will notice, not that she has family living here caring about her" Zach says.

Mason gets up "I was just trying to protect her from.."

"From me?" Zach fills in loudly.

A moment of silence predominates but Zach eventually starts talking again.

"You and your tranquillizer stuff can get their paws off of her" Zach angrily says.

~Tranquillizers?! Did I hear that right?~ I think as I get into a flat panic.

Mason looks with an unbelievable face expression at Zach. "It was the right thing to do and you know it"

Zach looks surprised. "NO! that's what you think is the right thing! You think I am the danger here but guess what? Driving away to wherever your poor plan wanted you to go without telling her? Probably against her will? I mean no offense, but I think you are the only danger for her right now".

"You're a threat, Zach" Mason says.

"Says the man who tranquillized her" Zach responds still angry.

Mason sighs "Listen, Zach. I know you for almost 300 years right now. I know your ups and downs, but the fact is that you're only good at one thing: being a cold blooded murderer. See, if you have one bad day, it could mean end of story for her and I don't want that".

I see Zach's face expression turning to extremely angry and then he attacks Mason. I'm witnessing a messed up fight for the second time and I'm not going to let it escalate it again, so I decide to interfere. In spite of how weak I feel right now, I open the door of the car and stumble towards them yelling:

'Stop! Please just stop hurting each other!'

At the moment I'm really close to them I feel an extremely painfully sting in my stomach. I look down and see Zach just stabbed me with a sharp branch.

"Look what you've caused!" Mason loudly says.

I feel my balance is going away and my legs feel weak.

Zach pushes Mason away and catches me in time before I hit the cold and hard tarmac. He looks angry at Mason and then quickly turns to me, looking very concerned. I groan from pain and beg him to call 911. But then Zach's eyes turn red. Not black this time. In no time he comes towards my neck and it feels like he biting me. The stings are getting worse for one moment. But that was just for one moment, because not long after that, every pain was quickly slipping away.

Zach gives me the opportunity to stand on my own and gives me a little space by walking two steps backwards.

I pull up my shirt and look at my stomach. It's healed?! There is no sign of any wounds at all, only a little blood from when it happened. That and the fact I don't feel weak anymore.. I look disoriented at Zach

'What did you do?!' I immediately ask.

"I've healed you"

'B- but how?!'

"By.. biting you" Zach responds really normal.

I look confused at Zach.

"Look, when a vampire bites you, it can either be good or really bad. I think you've already noticed the different color of eyes. Be careful when a vampires' eyes turn black: it's a bad sign. When their eyes turn red, they want to help you. As in physically healing". He explains.

'I need some time to process this' I stutter a little.

Zach nods and signs with his head to follow him and walks towards the car he parked out of sight at the left side of the road. Mason doesn't seem to be ok with it and flashes towards Zach.

"Get out of my way Mason.." Zach irritatingly says at the moment Mason is standing right in front of him.

"You're not going to take her with you, Zach". Mason responds.

"You really don't want to do this right now" Zach warns as they look straight into each other's eyes.

~This is not going to end well. They keep fighting over and over again, and it's my fault...~

'Just.. stop fighting all the time!' I shout at both of them. When I notice I have their I attention I continue talking: 'I don't want this all the time and..'

I get interrupted by Mason, who seems to have done something to Zach. Zach's face is changing to confusing, yet painfully and he falls to the ground. As he is lying on the ground, I can see Mason is holding an empty syringe.

I look incomprehensible at Mason 'What did you do?!' I ask mad. 'Are you crazy?!'

"It had to be done, he is bad, Mandy.." He responds.

'It didn't really look like he has bad intensions..'

"No, because he is hypocritical. He is seducing you and you don't even notice!" Mason loudly admits.

There is a moment of silence where we just look at each other. Eventually he starts to speak again. "Look, I'm sorry. I just can't stand to see how he is getting under your skin like that.. Anyway, we should go.."

'And leave Zach here? I don't even know where you're taking me!'

"Please, I need you to trust me on this one" He says as he is looking hopeless into my eyes.

I don't know how, but I feel I can trust him.. Did he convince me?

I nod hesitatingly and walk towards his car which he keeps open for me.

~Where is he going to take me to?~ I think as soon as I sit down
