Chapter 22 : Reunion with the 'good boy'

Akame followed Tobi around. His presence was soothing and for some reason she felt extremely familiar with him. She had a feeling that...she could trust him with her deepest secrets (not that she had any).

Tobi : Yaaay! Tobi is a good boy. Tobi is on a date with Akame-chan!

The word date struck her immediately. It reminded her of Mahiro Kariya.

Akame: Nee...Tobi-san, do you know about a person called Mahiro Kariya?

Tobi had been spinning around laughing but he froze when he heard the name Mahiro Kariya.

Tobi: So is Kariya-san the reason that Akame-chan was crying in the forest. Tobi is a good boy. Tobi likes pretty girls.

Akame froze. Why did he immediately assume that it was because of Kariya? Because he knew that Kariya is a sound ninja?

Akame: If Tobi-san knows Kariya...does that mean that you also know the ones called Hidan and Kakuzu?

There was an eerie silence...but Akame could swear that if she could see behind Tobi's mask, she would see a smirk.

The aura he gave off and the way he acted like a kid didn't match.

Tobi: What a coincidence! Tobi knows Hidan and Kakuzu. They are bad boys, but Tobi is a good boy?

A moment later, something miraculous happened. In a moment Akame had flashed in front of Tobi.

" Freezing blade! "

The mask cracked. He made an attempt to run away but Akame stood in front of him.

" Please listen Tobi-san... Don't use the space jutsu to run away."

The man hesitated and tried to cover up his face but Akame held his hand. He stiffened.

Tobi P.O.V

Stupid me...why can't I run away? I obviously know this is bad news...this girl is pretty perceptive.

Why can't I just use my space jutsu and just run away from here?

She held my hand and I felt all the more anxious about the fact that I didn't have a mask to cover my face.

Akame held onto my hand and peered closely at me.

Akame: Don't run away, Tobi-san.

I couldn't help but let out a wry laugh. So what? She is just like the others.

In this world there are only two types of people. The first type are the ones who run away and avoid those with horrifying scars like me. The second are those who act all pious and saint like. They pity you. They pretend that they care about you. But all they care about is what the others think of them.

Tobi: So, you pity me because I look horrible?

Oh no...I messed up. Just now... I had totally dropped my Tobi act. How did I get so careless?

She gave off a killing intent that was quite high. I thought that I was used to it, given the fact that I lived with Madara...

Then it struck me...if I felt uncomfortable with her...and was unwilling to run away then there was only one option left.

Turn it into the situation where I am comfortable.

"Mangekyo Sharingan"

The girl simply gave a close eyed smile and stood without moving.
