Chapter 61 : The five kage summit

Sasuke P.O.V

Sasuke...and why are you helping us right now?

Zetsu: Because I was asked to.

Tsk...talking with this plant guy was infuriating. Any question I asked was replied to with 'because I was asked to'. What was Madara planning? The fact that he was the one who summoned Akame...that he could summon people across space in itself was something to worry about. What if he brings someone else?

But for now, I was forced to focus on the matter on hand. 

With great difficulty, Team Taka managed to find out the location where the five kage summit was scheduled to take place. And right now, we were inside the building, waiting in ambush. For an 'oh so important', the security wasn't much to boast of. 

"We've been expecting you."

Karin pointed to the man being welcomed. The man looked like a war veteran and was accompanied by two ROOT ANBU.

Karin: That geezer in the middle. That is Shimura Danzo.

Akame: The ROOT ANBU accompanying him are Muira Kokufu and Mugetsu Ryouma. Both of them are tier 1 members of the ROOT ANBU...and Danzo's close confidantes.

Sasuke: Shimura Danzo...you shall pay for your crimes...

General P.O.V

Inside the meeting hall

"The five kage summit has been opened upon the Raikage-dono's request. I am Mifune, your moderator. The five kage summit shall now commence!"

All the five kages were seated at the table. The kage of the sand, Gaara. The kage of the earth, Oonoki. The kage of the lightning, A. The kage of the water, Mei and...the kage of the fire, Danzo. For the first time since the formation of villages, the five kages had assembled together. It was truly a historical moment. 

However, things weren't peaceful as the five kages fought each other due to their ideological differences. Shimura Danzō mentioning Killer B, sent A into a rage, prompting all of the Kage's bodyguards to assume a ready stance. A claimed that each of the other Kage was in some way responsible for Akatsuki's rise to power: Sunagakure may have used Akatsuki to facilitate the Konoha invasion, the Tsuchikage hired Akatsuki to avoid sending inexperienced ninja of his village into battle and the Fourth Mizukage, Yagura  was probably manipulated by Akatsuki.

After much deliberation, the five villages decided to work together to combat the Akatsuki. Mifune, the moderator was chosen the head of the alliance. To the surprise of the other kages, Mifune chose Shimura Danzo as the head of the alliance.

A: Leave the Hokage in charge of the allied shinobi forces?

Danzo: If that is what is requested of me, then I shall accept.

A: WHY THE HOKAGE? He's a representative of the dark side of the shinobi world! I won't leave this to him!

Upon the Raikage's complaint, Mifune pointed at A's table...it lay in splinters due to him smashing it out of anger.

Mifune: I understand that passion and energy are needed to lead good soldiers. However if we place someone who cannot refrain from running on emotions and strength alone as the head, the the soldiers will also end up in pieces like that table. This is just a calm observation as a moderator. Kazakage-dono is far too young to be in charge of such a force. The other nations won't accept him. HIs title as Kazekage is hard enough to grasp as it it.

Gaara made no comments and his face was devoid of emotions but his escorts, Temari and Kankuro obviously didn't take it lightly. However, during the proceeding of such an important meeting, they couldn't let their temper run their actions.

Mifune: Tsuchikage-dono, on the other hand, is showing his age which is an obvious sign that his abilities may have diminished. He has also relied way too much on the Akatsuki. He's the least trustworthy. Mizukage-dono's Kirigakure is said to be the place where the Akatsuki is founded, so there is concern of information being leaked. There is also a fear that it might be infiltrated by spies. We don't know why the Akatsuki are collecting the tailed beasts but it is clear that they cannot be allowed to get their hands on the nine-tails. The nine-tails belongs to Konoha. So I believe it is right to leave the Hokage in charge of the forces.

Shimura Danzo quietly accepted the post while the other kages simply looked disgruntled, not satisfied with the result but unable to debate it. Just when all hope was lost, a scarlet savior arrived.

An uninvited guest.

Akame: Pardon my intrusion but...shouldn't cheating lead in immediate disqualification of a candidate?

Oonoki: What is she doing here? Suppress her-

A: No wait.  It looks like she has some important information.

Danzo's face showed no changes but it was obvious that he was displeased with this turn of events.

Akame: Shimura Danzo,  surely you would put the rumors to rest so that it doesn't affect the working of the Allied shinobi force right?

Gaara: Rumor?

Akame: The rumor that Danzo-dono's right eye actually belongs to Uchiha Shisui, the member of the Uchiha clan, praised as the dojutsu genius on par with Uchiha Itachi.

Danzo made no moves to remove the bandages that covered his right eye but there was another way of confirming if what Akame said really was true.

Mei: Ao!

Mei's attendant  Ao activated his Byakugan and was shocked to find that what Akame said was true. Ao had faced Shisui in battle before and knew perfectly what his Sharingan looked like.

Ao: The girl is right. The eye really does belong to Uchiha Shisui besides...his right arm...

Oonoki: What does it matter whose eye Danzo has? This meeting-

Ao: Shisui's dojutsu could enter the mind of an opponent and manipulate it as if it were his own. The one being manipulated wouldn't even notice it. It is a top-class dojutsu!

A: Hokage! Have you been manipulating Mifune?

Mifune: But...that's...

Ao: My right eye is a spoils of war from a battle I had with a Hyuuga. So I cannot question Danzo-dono about using someone else's eye but...don't think you can fool my eye. You have been manipulating the moderator. This Byakugan of mine was capable enough to dispel the genjutsu placed on the fourth Mizukage. It has certainly seen through your tricks!  

A: Danzo...YOU!

Before anything could be done, Zetsu appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the room. Sasuke was shocked. The reason Zetsu accompanied them thus far. It couldn't be...

Zetsu: Uchiha Sasuke has infiltrated this building! Now where could he be hiding?

A: What? 

Akame was obviously shocked. So the reason Zetsu helped them out was to lead Sasuke into the trap? If that wasn't enough, Uchiha Obito arrived on the scene, declared himself as Madara and disappeared alongside Zetsu after proclaiming war on the Five great Shinobi nations.

Mei: Tsk...it's one thing after another!

Using this commotion as a distraction, Shimura Danzo made his escape. Sasuke clicked his tongue in annoyance but recovered quickly. He motioned to Akame to make sure that the five kages don't interrupt his initial plan of killing Shimura Danzo. Team Taka accompanied him for support. 

Akame sighed as she took position. This was going to be a very long day...
