Chapter 37 : Revisiting the old times

Akame P.O.V

Suigetsu: Seriously...it's amazing that you managed to kill Orochimaru.

Sasuke: Don't waste time on such stupid topics. I was quite disappointed in the battle. Forget about that and come to the point. 

Suigetsu: Ah...the fact that I am joining your team Hebi right?

Sasuke: Precisely. You're the first recruit.

Suigetsu stopped walking and turned towards Sasuke with an incredulous look on his face. Sasuke growled slightly in annoyance. He found it irritating when people didn't grasp things as quickly as he did.

Suigetsu: Wait...isn't Akame your first recruit?

Sasuke: She is not a shinobi. She is an assassin who answers directly to me. She is not going to waste time playing teammates with you all.

Suigetsu: Che. Looks like someone is overprotective.

Sasuke shot a glare and Suigetsu chuckled nervously. Of course. Sasuke was right. I wasn't his comrade...I was just his assassin. His tool. 

I don't know why but the thought that I am a nobody to him...I felt a prick of pain in my heart.

Sasuke: You'd better hurry. We need to pick up two more members. Jugo from the northern and Karin from the southern hideout.

In the split of a second, Suigetsu had his arm over Sasuke's shoulder. So he's finally showing his true colors, huh?

Suigetsu: Just because you defeated Orochimaru doesn't mean you're above me. Quite a lot of people were after his life. You...just happened to be unshackled at close quarters with him. That is all there is to it.

Suigetsu had a finger pointed at Sasuke's head. If he wanted he could make a water bullet and blow off Sasuke's brains from a close range. Sasuke, made no moves of resistance but merely gave me a casual glance.

I...had my sword pointed right at Suigetsu's neck. An action that made Suigetsu gulp.

Suigetsu: You do realize that in this situation Sasuke would die and I would simply turn into water and escape-

Akame:  You are a swordsman without a sword. Your speed is not faster than mine. Even water can be poisoned. If it's a test of speed and skill, you'd be dead before you try to form that water bullet of yours.

Suigetsu held his hands up in mock defeat. The moment I lowered my sword, he turned his hand into a water sword and tried to slash at Sasuke.

 "Thunder God's Rage: Adramelech"

Obito-san's gift was more than useful. I had tried to keep it a secret but this situation calls for it. I had stored a bit of Adramelech's power within the cross. Suigetsu didn't expect to be hit by a lightening bolt originating from a cross. The fact that his body was composed of water made the attack even more effective. Suigetsu lay in a puddle on the ground. It would take him a while to recover. After all he suffered from 42% electrocution just now.

Sasuke sighed. We decided to wait until Suigetsu was in a mode to come back to his solid human form.

Suigetsu: Fine...I won't complain. But if I recollect, it was your team that defeated Zabuza-sempai. If you help me obtain the throat cleaver, then I don't mind making a deal.

Akame: Um...you do realize that we could kill you in a second, considering the weakened state you in right now, right? Besides...you wish to obtain Zabuza's Ayanami?

Suigetsu: Yeah...but what use is a swordsman without his sword? 

And that is how we went to the land of waves and crossed 'The great Naruto bridge'. Sasuke seemed out of it ever since we entered this country. He kept slipping in and out of attention. Suigetsu didn't notice it but...maybe Sasuke misses his past life more than I thought.

Suigetsu: So? You said it was here but it's not here. How did that happen?

Sasuke: Beats me. I'm not a grave-guardian. If it's not here then it means that someone has taken it.

Suigetsu: Guess so. It's not like the sword sprouted legs and ran away...The seven great shinobi swordsman had a system where they passed down their swords. I admired those seven and was trained by them. Since Zabuza-sempai is dead, his Ayanami should be mine.

Sasuke: What if the swordsman loses in a duel?

Suigetsu: Well...the sword goes to the victor but surely nobody could have defeated him in-

Akame: I see. I wouldn't have left Ayanami behind if I knew it belonged to me...

Suigetsu: Wha! Y-You don't mean...

Sasuke: Akame challenged him to a duel...he lost.

Suigetsu was trembling from head-to-toe. His head was cast down. Just when I thought that he was deep in despair, he started laughing out loud. I sprang back slightly out of shock.

Suigetsu: Just like I thought...I'm going to challenge you in a duel one day, Metsujin Akame! That Murasame looks like it could withstand against Kisame-sempai's Samehada! 

Akame: It can. But Murasame is mine. I have no intentions of giving it to you. Even if I did, you'll get killed before you learn how to use it. My imperial arm cannot be used by anyone other than me.

Suigetsu looked slightly depressed but he maintained that he wanted to challenge me once. Realizing that Suigetsu was in no mood to move right now, Sasuke took him to a restaurant. Sasuke and Suigetsu sat on one side while I sat on another. There was no risk of Suigetsu trying to kill Sasuke now...not when he was in bliss eating yogurt. 

The waitresses swooned openly at the sight of Sasuke. Sasuke was glaring at the space behind me. Suigetsu saw in that direction and snickered.

Suigetsu: Jealousy is truly unbecoming on you, Sasuke~kun.

 For reasons unknown, this made a faint blush appear on Sasuke's cheeks. The blush disappeared as quickly as it appeared and Sasuke cast Suigetsu a murderous glare. Suigetsu quietly ate his seventh serving of yogurt and ordered for another one.

The waitress brought it with a bashful expression on her face.

Suigetsu: Hey sweety, do you know about the huge sword that was in the grave near 'The great Naruto brigde'? This fella here is searching for it.

"E-Eh! I-I-I'm sure someone knows something about it...let me ask and come back in a minute!"

There were huge shrieks heard from the kitchen. A bunch of waitresses appeared and all of them tried to answer 'Sasuke's question'. Apparently Tazuna knew about the sword.

We found out later that Tazuna was now in the land of lightning with his grandson, Tazuna and that a man named Daikoku Tenzen took Ayanami with him.

Daikoku Tenzen. A politician on the surface. Underneath that, he was the leader of a gang of thieves. He lobbys a lot with the feudal lord and commits crimes without fear of legal backlash. So the rulers in this world are rotten with bribes too, huh...

Sasuke: His castle is in the south forest. Suigetsu, you wished to challenge my authority right? How about a challenge? Finders, keepers. The person who finds the sword keeps the sword. To make the odds equal, Akame will sit this one out. It's a challenge between you and me. A duel for Zabuza's throat clever. A fight for Ayanami.

Suigetsu readily accepted the challenge. They were going to storm Daikoku Tenzen's castle in two days. Sasuke delivered them a notice of their arrival in two days. I would proctor the challenge. It was an interesting challenge...Sasuke vs Suigetsu.
