Chapter 60 : The last of Jiraiya

Akame P.O.V

Akame: So...I woke up after a whole week!

Sasuke: Must be great to be you. Everyone has been busy with preparations and...you?

I chuckled softly and looked away from Sasuke. I felt so little right now. For the first five hours he was very concerned and anxious about my state but...after that phase, he opened showed his irritation at my delay in 'waking up'.

It's not my fault I went into a half-dead state!

But... I could understand why he was so exasperated. So much had happened when I was comfortably knocked out. 

1. Uzumaki Naruto had become a world class hero. Konoha celebrated his return after he convinced Nagato a.k.a Pain to give up on his quest for dictatorship and brought back to life al those who died in the 'Pain's invasion of Konoha'. 

That explains why I am alive as well...

2. Tsunade-hime was worse off than me. Apparently she was in a comatose stage with no signs of waking up soon. And since Konoha's Hokage was out of commission, the Konoha council decided to appoint a substitute Hokage which was none other than...Shimura Danzo!

Tsk...those two members of Konoha council, do they not learn from experience at all? To think they made Danzo the Hokage...as if him being in charge of ROOT ANBU wasn't bad already.

3. The five great shinobi nations were planning to have a summit. The five kage summit. After the times of Senju Hashirama, this is the first time that the summit is being held for them to work together.

Now one might wonder why they are so eager to join hands at this point of time. These five nations always fought amongst themselves, aiming to outwit the other by hook or crook. But the magnitude of damage that Konoha faced during the invasion opened their eyes to how dangerous the Akatsuki truly is.

If one member could flatten one of the five great shinobi nations with ease then...the Akatsuki could spell the end of the world as we know it. Its a pity that things work this way...but unless they have a common enemy, they won't come together. Albeit unintentionally, Madara was bringing the world together.

But this kind of truce-for-convenience...will it last after they defeat Madara...assuming they actually manage to defeat him?

But there was one thing that touched me. Apparently Naruto met with A-sama, the raikage, and requested him not to harm Sasuke...that he believed that he would be able to bring Sasuke back to Konoha. It was as if Naruto and Sasuke shared bonds of brotherhood. Sasuke might pretend to be above feeling emotions but...I knew that he still considered Naruto to be one of his closest friends.

After meeting up with the rest of team Taka, we were ready to make our preparations for the future.

Sasuke: ...and so we shall visit Amegakure in secret first and investigate if Jiraiya's death really was by the hands of Pain.

Suigetsu: But what use is that information?

Akame: It would mean that our opponent is much more stronger than initially expected. 

Karin: Hah? But we already know that Nagato and that Konan woman were students of Jiraiya and...Jiraiya got killed by the six paths Nagato. What more is there to think about? Surely it is a good thing that the Rinnegan user is gone!

Sasuke: Simple. Nagato was an Uzumaki. The Rinnegan was obviously not his. He was gifted with the Rinnegan...

Suigetsu: So?

Akame: If the true leader of Akatsuki is generous enough to gift Nagato with the Rinnegan then...isn't it logical to assume that he has so much power that...he doesn't need the Rinnegan to obtain power.
