Chapter 24 : Amiability and Animosity

Akame P.O.V

It was absolute disaster.

 We had managed to save Naruto but...both Kakashi-sensei and Sasuke-san were in a horrible state. Sasuke was out of danger and was deep asleep but Kakashi-sensei was in a medically induced coma. This was being done so as to protect Kakashi-sensei's brain from the strain until a qualified medical ninja can come and rid sensei of the aftershock. Apparently Itachi-san had once again trapped sensei in a genjutsu and though sensei was out of it now, the backlash might cause permanent damage to sensei's brain...and so the need for an exceptional medical ninja.

Sakura spent her time watching over Sasuke. Her feelings might have been a mere infatuation but...her feelings were now profound. She was no longer his fangirl. She was genuinely concerned about her love's life and well being. She often went on errands to buy his medicines and other necessities.

Naruto had gotten even more obsessed with training stating that he wants to be strong enough to protect himself and those close to him. Ero-sennin was more that willing to train Naruto. Guess he must feel guilty for not being there to protect Naruto.

Sakura: Akame! Look! Sasuke-kun has finally woken up!

She was right. Sasuke had woken up. He looked just as uninterested as ever...just that his face was slightly sunken and he had dark circles below his eyes despite the ample amount of sleep he got.

Sasuke: What happened to Naruto?

Sakura: Jiraiya-sama has decided to coach him seriously. Bet he is afraid that Akame and Kakashi-sensei would assassinate him if he didn't protect Naruto. Now that idiot should be safe...seeing that Jiraiya-sama is one of the legendary sannin.

Sasuke: Hn.

He had stopped talking and decided to look at the ceiling with a blank look. I couldn't even fathom what thoughts would be going on in his mind right now. He saw his older brother...the one who annihilated his entire clan. Watched his sensei get hospitalized with serious injuries. And...he was too weak to protect his best friend and his teammates.

"Akame-san, you have a summons from the council"

I nodded and began to follow her. Since the day we had come back after saving Naruto, I hadn't received any missions. Guess they think I am ready to be back in action now. Sigh...but I do remember Uchiha-san (Tobi) remove the exploding tag for me. It somehow makes me feel more free...

Akame: I am really sorry. I'll have to go now. I see you both soon. Take care of your health, Sasuke-san.

Sakura: You too, Akame. Last time we saw you, you looked like you might collapse out of exhaustion.

They did notice! Konoha is a wonderful place after all...if it can raise such kind people. But...will these kind people stay as they are? I don't want to see a blood-thirsty Naruto or a merciless Sakura...

This must be what they mean when they say true hell. My hands shook as I saw the letter in my hand. There was a particular jutsu one had to perform to open the scroll and...I cannot perform jutsus at all so...my credentials in this village was in the hands of the three people who knew the unsealing jutsu. If they were to decide to go against me...I would absolutely no way of proving myself innocent and...given the kind of treatment I receive from them, it is quite obvious that my relationship with them is quite fickle.

Akame: How do you feel, Sasuke-san?

Sasuke: How come you still use 'san' with my name? Just Sasuke is fine.
