Chapter 12 : Machievellism

Sakura sighed in relief. Currently they were near a water source and could finally have some rest. They had plenty to thank Akame for. She had not only brought berries and water to last 2 days(when strictly rationed), she also miraculously brought back medicinal pills that brought down Naruto and Sasuke's fever. It had been two days since they had battled the sound ninja and still Akame had not woken up yet. Naruto and Sasuke took turns carrying her. Luckily she wasn't having a fever. She was just so exhausted. Hopefully she'll be fine after a good sleep. Truth be told Sakura was worried about what happened to Akame after she was blown away with Naruto. Akame didn't have Ice style jutsus...or even chakra for that matter. And suddenly in that battle with Orochimaru, Akame started using Ice jutsus without handsigns or prior practice.

"Sakura-chan! Look how many fishes I caught!"

" You sure about that, dobe? All I remember you doing is scaring the fishes out of the water. I am the one who caught them with the kunais."

" why you!"

Sakura chuckled as she watched Naruto and Sasuke have a fighting match. Sigh...Sasuke looks good even when he is arguing.

Sasuke had made a fire with his fireball jutsu and Naruto was carefully roasting the fishes. Akame woke up and blinked at the trio curiously. Guess she was hungry after skipping meals for two days...

Akame sighed as she bit through her third fish. Her hand had started to get their warmth back and she could feel her pulse. She'll have to train in case if she ever intends on using Esdeath's Imperial arms. Akame decided to scour the area for other competitors. She returned back. None of them were in sight. Looks like they hid themselves quite well. She knew Sakura was slightly afraid living in the forest but Akame had no qualms since the headquarters of the Night raid was in the middle of the forest.

To her surprise Sasuke was scolding Naruto and Sakura for trying to open their heaven's scroll. Apparently Kabuto had stopped them opening the scroll in time. Akame sighed and took the scroll from Sasuke's hand and ...opened it!

Sasuke looked like he might kill her but Sakura suddenly exclaimed in surprise.

" wasn't the scroll supposed to knock her out for the rest of the exam if we were to open it prematurely? "

Kabuto looked surprised too. Akame chuckled.

"Kabuto-san...did you forget that I had given our heaven's scroll to you? This one was just a fake I found in the forest set up as a trap by someone."

They sighed in relief. Then suddenly Naruto started screaming in anger.

" Hey! If you gave Kabuto's team our scroll that means we'll have to find both the scrolls now. Why did you give it to him?"

Akame explained how she got medicines from Kabuto in exchange for the scroll. From his expression Akame understood that it was better not to reveal that Kabuto knew about the curse mark.

Sasuke decided to ambush some teams near the tower. It was hard. They got stuck in some team's genjutsu trap and could get out of it only due to Naruto creating shadow clones and disguising them as the members of team seven. The clones acted as a perfect decoy. Naruto was really growing by leaps and bounds.

They reached the tower. Sasuke, Sakura and Naruto looked dejected while Kabuto went on to join his team.

" Such a pity...we only have an earth scroll...if only we didn't have to exchange the heaven's scroll for medicines..."

Akame's eyes lit up mischievously and she led the trio into the tower. She threw both the heaven and the earth's scroll open upon one another. There was a puff of smoke and Iruka-sensei appeared to declare that they had passed.

Akame explained hiw she had come across the grass ninja alliance and had taken their scrolls since she didn't want to be scolded by Sasuke for giving the heaven's scroll to Kabuto. So in the end they had an extra earth's scroll.

"Nee...Iruka-sensei, what does that weird message on the wall mean?"

Iruka was happy that Naruto was actually serious for once.

" It means heaven and earth. If you don't have heaven(knowledge) then study and build up your knowledge and if you don't have earth(strength), then train and build up your strength. To succeed in life you need both heaven and earth. "

Kakashi arrived and informed team seven to get ready for the preliminary matches which would select candidates who shall be going for the final round of the chuunin exams.

Before the matches, Akame requested Sasuke not to even think about using the power provided by the curse mark. She had heard from Sakura how Sasuke had been extremely frightening when under the influence of the curse mark. Sasuke accepted. Sakura wanted him to tell the teachers but Akame and Sasuke convinced her otherwise. Akame explained how killing Orochimaru or making him willing to help was the only way to remove the curse mark.

Sakura dropped the topic about the curse mark but she did tell Kakashi how Akame suddenly started using Ice jutsus without handsigns and the fact that she had no heartbeat or pulse for two days after using it.

Kakashi had never heard anything related to this. Akame had been too unique from the beginning. He had to ask the Hokage about her now...

The Hokage explained to him about how Akame was from far away...her memories were tampered...since according to her explanation she might actually be from a different world altogether.

Kakashi realized that it might actually make sense if Akame was from out of this world but that was impossible... Or was it?

The Kazekage, who was sitting next to the Hokage, licked his lips...almost like a snake.

He had compared the Red eyed girl to his faithful assistant, Kabuto...besides she had managed to avoid the curse mark...she might actually turn out to be interesting... Perhaps he should pit her against Kabuto and check whether her skills were really upto the level he esteemed them at...
