Chapter 55 : Attack on Konoha!

Akame P.O.V

I decided to follow Sasuke plan down to the last detail and try not to derail off it as much as possible. And so, I found myself having audience with the Godaime Hokage, Tsunade-hime. She might have been suspicious of me but she decided to accept my help when I showed her Sandaime Hokage, Sarutobi Hiruzen's letter and...I revealed the main reason why I was here.

I was here to protect Uzumaki Naruto.

Naruto, since Jiraiya's death, has been training in mount Myouboku and Tsunade was planning to bring him back.

"Got it! I'll go back and call Naruto."

 Tsunade: I'm counting on you.  

Koharu: No. Leave Naruto at Mount Myouboku.

Tsunade: What?

Homura: We heard that it's the Akatsuki leader who is attacking Konoha.

Tsunade: How do you know that?

Homura: Danzo informed us. The Akatsuki is after naruto, the nine tails Jinchuriki, is he not?

Tsunade: What of it?

Koharu: We let it slide the last time. But not this time. Naruto is, but a child. Isn't the intruder, the one who defeated Jiraiya? If Naruto were to be defeated and the Kyubi were to fall into their hands then what would we do?

I looked on quietly. Were they really talking about this? I am happy they aren't talking about giving Naruto up just to save their necks but...this way it almost sounds like they plan to use Naruto as a last resort weapon or something.

Konoha has been this way from the beginning. The councillors are supposed to make sure than the Hokage doesn't get carried away with their power. They are supposed to guide the Hokage to take decisions for the welfare of the village but...with their conservative way of thinking and their absolute reliance on Shimura Danzo, the councillors Homura and Koharu are nothing but a thorn in the Hokage's path, puppets who voice Danzo's disregard of anyone who becomes Hokage.

Tsk...isn't there a way we can simplify this matter-

before I could do anything, Tsunade-hime, the Godaime Hokage seized the duo by their collar. And...I was certainly just as surprised as the councillors were. I knew I was infuriated but...who knew that Tsunade would actually openly oppose them?

She really is a wonderful Hokage, eh?

Koharu: T-That's enough, what do you think you are doing, going against the council like this?

These two people aren't any less impressive. Despite the fact that they were shaken by Tsunade's attack, they still stubbornly held on to their opinions and dignity...I mean impressive in a negative sense. People call this obstinacy.

Tsunade:  Who the hell do you think you are? You keep treating him like a child! Konaha's will has been passed on and it is still growing! As we speak, Naruto is striving to surpass Jiraiya himself! He's not some secret weapon Konoha can use for war! He is a shinobi that protects Konoha!

Naruto...in the time we have been apart, he really has grown, eh? As his former teammate, I can't help but smile in pride.

Akame: besides...if it a secret weapon you need for this war...I am here, aren't I?

Koharu: W-Who is she?

Akame: Yasha Shirayuki(Demon Snow). I was hired by Sandaime Hokage to help Konoha when Pain's attack finally happens.

Homura: And what is your proof of that?

Akame: 'A fire is blazing where the leaves are dancing.

The shadow of fire is illuminating this village.

The leaves will sprout once again'

Tsunade: That's the will of fire! C-Could it be that you are...

I held a finger to my lip. Tsunade really is very clever. She understood things so quickly. I wasn't Akame right now. Letting Freezing blade possess me, I was in my Ice empress mode and called myself Yasha Shirayuki but Tsunade has the intuition to look past my disguise.

Tsunade: I see...no matter what, I am bringing naruto back! Something that both Sandaime-sama and Chiyo-sama had that you guys don't possess...it's the power to believe in the future...the power to believe in hope!

Homura and Koharu picked themselves off the ground with as much dignity as they could muster and walked out of the room. The last thing we heard was 'Do as you like' from Koharu. Tsunade's eyes were burning with the fire of victory.

Tsunade: So...Yasha Shirayuki-san,, you are here to help us?

Akame: Just Yasha is fine. I think I have the kind of information that might prove to be extremely useful.

Tsunade: So you are saying that there are not one but six Pains in the village?

Akame: Yes. I happened to see it by co-incidence. 

Tsunade: But then the sensor should have been tripped! The barrier around Konoha helps sense who is entering.

Akame: What if one Pain entered inside and...summoned the others?

Tsunade's face had a look of absolute horror on it. I could understand why. If there were six enemies then...in all likeliness, they could quickly branch out and destroy a huge part of Konoha.

"Tsunade-sama!"

Tsunade: Shizune, did you find anything?

Shizune: Yes! We found this rod which seems to be some sort of receiver...and it's picking up on chakra signals. They were stuck in several areas of Pain's body. According to what Fukusaku-sama(Elder toad) said, there are similar things stuck in the faces and bodies of other six as well.

Tsunade: So...not only do we know that there are six Pains, we also know that Pain's bodies move due to the signals of chakra they receive.This information has to be related to Pain's secret power.

Shizune: Using the intel gathered from the interrogation department, we'll definitely get to the bottom of this! According to them, Pain is definitely after Naruto.

Tsunade: I see. We should let Fukusaku-sama know about the situation. Communication frog, when you meet Naruto, inform him of this. Shizune...bring all the information you got from the medical team on the matter and provide them to the intel dept. ANBU unit 2, escort Shizune. Make sure that she and the intel dept remain unharmed. I'll be waiting on the rooftop waiting for further information while using Katsuyu to tend to the wounded.

Shizune: Hai!

Tsunade: But Yasha...what are you going to do?

Akame: I have a certain something to take care of...Sandaime-sama's orders.

Tsunade: I see. All the best, Metsujin Akame...

Akame: Sigh...so you knew who I was after all... 

Shizune, Tsunade's assistant, left the room and the ANBU captain followed after her. Tsunade left for the rooftop. I just hid myself when an unexpected person burst into the room and killed the frog that was supposed to relay the message to Naruto.

"Tsk...they really are useless after all. All they have done is grow old. To think that Tsunade even managed to get them over to her side...but now the Kyuubi has been kept away..."

Akame: Oh? Is there a reason why you don't want Uzumaki Naruto back? 

"Y-You...why are you here?"

Akame: First Tsunade-hime and now you...I wonder if my Ice Empress mode isn't enough for hiding my identity...but I suppose that doesn't really matter...because the reason I really came here is to destroy you...

"H-How dare you-"

Akame: Shimura Danzo...
