Today was the day. To say I wasn't nervous would be the biggest lie ever told. Darrin and Kenny said they'd come hang out for a bit in an attempt to ease my nerves before I had to go. Melanie said she couldn't come because of a family dinner, but I wasn't complaining too much because we weren't that close anyways.

The knock on the door makes me jump and I quickly let them both in and race to my room, thoughts flying everywhere.

"Wow Skye, you look hot." Kenny comments, but this time it's different. It doesn't sound, dare I say it, love struck. He sounds like a normal friend complimenting another friend. I smile and realize he must've moved on now or at least started to. Maybe he and Melanie are a thing now. I have to remember to worry about that later.

"Is it too much? I don't want Jayce's stepmom to think I'm a slut." I whine, a whole new string of insecurities rising up in me. Darrin grabs me by my shoulders and tries to calm me down.

"Skye, chill. You're well mannered, well dressed, and you'll be just fine. Quit stressing. Jayce really likes you so his parents are kind of forced to like you anyways." He assures, joking lightly. I nod slowly and start to feel a bit more normal now.

I check myself out in the mirror one more time to make sure I wasn't forgetting anything. I went for a semi-formal look. I mean, I wear dresses most of the time anyways so I just picked a longer one than normal that was black with ruffles at the end. Paired with shiny black tights (curtesy of Frida, but we'll get to her later) and a Calvin Klein cardigan (Calvin Klein makes the best boots and cardigans don't even fight me on this) and icy blue ballet flats (it was too warm for boots and my dress was too long).

My hair was curled because hey I might as well try to look cute for Jayce in the process and some dark pink lipstick might've been thrown on. Though that last thing might've been a mistake. I'm going for dinner so it'll probably wipe away anyways. Oh well, it's too late to turn back now. I didn't put any eye make up on, but I applied some light pink blush to look modest as Piper puts it when I ask why she slaps the stupid stuff on my cheeks before a party.

The final touch was a purse in which I stuffed my phone, emergency five dollar bill, and two candy canes. I planned to give one to Jayce as a small gift, just a cute little something. Besides, who doesn't like mint?

"You ready?" Kenny and Darrin ask, fist bumping each other for the synchronization. Boys. Then again, Piper and I do it too, so I might have just been slightly jealous.

"I think so. Do I look ready? And no snarky comments Kenny boy." I warn.

"You look great Skye. Now go, I think I heard Jayce's car pull up." Darrin says, ushering me out the door.

"Skylar." I correct hastily. "Wait, why aren't you and Kenny leaving?" I ask, ruffling up my hair a bit.

"We're just gonna hang around a bit." Darrin says. I cock my head to the side in confusion.

"Wait, I thought we were gonna talk to Ar- ouch!" Kenny said, rubbing his arm where Darrin elbowed him.

"Darrin! I thought I told you to stay out of my personal business! Leave right now! I don't want you talking to Ariana." I command, pointing to the front door.

"Skye listen, Jayce is here waiting. You're supposed to meet his parents, do you really wanna make a bad impression by being late? On top of that, if we leave right now, Jayce is gonna see that I was here. Is that something you want?" he asks, smirking. I want to punch him in the face so bad, but a honk from Jayce's car makes me settle for a really harsh glare.

"This is NOT over." I make clear, heading out of the house after saying a bye to my parents. I didn't bother trying to talk to Ariana. She clearly wanted nothing to do with me.
