"Are you sure Skye?" Jayce asks, looking me up and down with bated breath. I nod, gulping slowly in the process.
"I'm sure Jayce. I'm ready to take this relationship to the next level." I say with a shy smile. He smirks and nods in approval. I can tell he's surprised that I initiated it, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.
"Last chance to back out. It's okay if you're not ready." He warns me. I assure him I want this and it happens. We toss our phones at each other and-"1234567." I tell him. He types it in and hums in approval as he accesses my playlist.
"7395." He tells me when I wave his phone expectantly. I type it in and flinch at the music choice he's got. Green day? Not a fan. The Fray I can work with but then there's Panic at the Disco and I don't do that. Where's the Tori Kelly, am I right?"Well it's a no brainer that you love this Tori Kelly chick." Jayce comments.
"Yeah, she's the best person EVER. Your playlists are kind of all over the place though." I observe. He's got punk rock, pop, rap, and I think I even saw a Disney song in there but I'm not sure.
"Variety my friend. But hey, you stick with your Tori person. Maybe I'll check her out sometime." He offers.
"Oh my goshness! I will love you forever!" I cry.
"That's a long time. Maybe I shouldn't." He teases and I respond by smacking a pillow to his chest and he laughs, pulling me in for a hug. I give in and relax in his embrace, humming in content.

It was an ordinary day at the halfpipe. Well...it was, until I saw Reese. That wasn't the weird part though. He wasn't his usual chipper self. His eyes lacked that glint that seemed permanently panted into them. It was so...un-Reese like. Usually, he'd jump at me like an excited puppy and be happier than anyone I'd ever seen. I frowned at his sad expression and headed over to the railing where he was standing.
"Hey Reese, what's up?" I ask, approaching him. He jumps at my voice and widens his eyes.
"You won't jump in again will you?! Don't! I'll call Jayce!" He cries out, worry taking over his depressed state. I try not to laugh at his concern, but it was pretty funny. Protective Reese was new and not unwelcome.
"I'm not jumping in the lake Reese, don't worry. I just came to check in and see how you're doing. Honest." I say, giving jazz hands.
"That's good. Jayce would have a cow. You should've seen how worried he got when you had hypothermia. Kept asking about you and how you're doing and if you missed him as much as he obviously missed you." Reese commented in relief. I smile at that. Jayce really does care.
"But uh, yeah I'm fine." He adds in randomly and with an evident tone shift. His spontaneous voice went straight to flat and upset.
"What's wrong Reese?" I ask, placing a hand on his shoulder. He shrugs my hand off, but not rudely, just sadly. Shaking his head, he grips the railing and lets out a puff of breath and I could see the steamy stuff come due to the cool weather. Usually I saw that when I smoked so it felt weird to see it come from Reese's lips.
"I'm not gonna put your mood down Skylar. Go be happy with Jayce." He says, smiling brightly. I gave props to him. That smile looked real. Too bad I was a girl and could read emotions clearer than they appeared.
"You'll feel better if you talk to someone about it. If not me, then at least talk to Fria. She'll make you feel better, I'm sure." I advise. He tenses at my words and I immediately know what the problem is.
